But did they actually tear down the engine and replace the cylinder liner or block?
That is the actual fix that the dealers didn't do and only independents do now.
As I said, that is what the Porsche dealer were told to do by Porsche, but I refused and demanded a new engine. Which, I thought at the time, would fix the problem. Suffice to say that I know have a 4.1 Hartech engine...That is the actual fix that the dealers didn't do and only independents do now.
Hi all, new to the forum.
I am looking at potentially buying a new Porsche Taycan Turbo - going to test drive it tomorrow. It's currently advertised on the Porsche website for £121,990 with an original configurator price of £147,714. Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what extra discount I could be looking at getting off the £121,990 price?
Many thanks!

Put it this way, if you were to ask the sales person what they would give you for it if you traded it back in after a week, it would start with an 8 (at best).
If they agreed to buy it, some dealers are just saying no (and they probably would say no if it's a saloon).
PS WBAC not reliable price guide but this car retails at nearly 180K and WBAC will give you the princely sum of £68k for it. Gulp!

Wow!! That is just downright scary!!
Have to say, as much as I'm excited about potentially owning a Taycan the current depreciation and residual values are making me jittery. So yes, completely get your point about getting as big a discount as possible as it looks like it will be needed! Also, it starts to get to a point where the 100% corporation tax write off becomes immaterial and actually a much better option would be to buy a year old second hand one.

Or get a well spec'd GTS which are about £125k list and can be had new from about £100k (or possibly lower?).Have to say, as much as I'm excited about potentially owning a Taycan the current depreciation and residual values are making me jittery. Likely to be less depreciation and it has very similar performance to the Turbo and is the pick of the bunch as far as I can see.
i'd be wary buying a taycan not only because of the massive hit you take, even with discount, but the reliabiltiy of these things. a number of opc's a colleague spoke to last week cant see his macan s until mid to end feb, due to the amount of taycan they have to deal with due to warranty issues.
slightly off topic but a friend of mine has purchased a BMW i8, imentioned about the battery pack and old technolocgy etc but he has found a company in the USA where you send them the Battery cell and they will strip and rebuild with brand new better components for about £4,000 plus post both ways.
I would imagine the same would happen to the Taycan battery pack if it can be easiliy removed. From what i have heard the Mercedes packs are part of the chassis so they cannot be replaced as the whole car needs to be stripped so cost wise ineffective.

If you’re on the 25% WDA level then it’s still a great deal. I am looking at potentially buying a new Porsche Taycan Turbo - going to test drive it tomorrow. Otherwise get a 2nd bargain turbo S and write down by 18% per year.
No buys one of these for cash and then gives it away to WBAC after a year, so that sort of talk is pointless.

Yep, WBAC value a bit strange. I put my 20 month old 18,000 mile 4SCT in and it’s just come out at £62,895, which is £3k higher than it was 3 weeks ago. Anyway, heater went pop last Thursday. Went in to Porsche on Friday with a Macan T courtesy car; new part ordered and in stock today, being fitted tomorrow and collection Wednesday. No real hardship so I wouldn’t believe all the rubbish about Taycan living in the dealership for months on end (although it probably was like this a year ago!).Otherwise get a 2nd bargain turbo S and write down by 18% per year.

Sod the depreciation, it’s such an epic car…. My God, the courtesy car feels archaic in comparison and it’s far and away the best daily I’ve ever had by a distance (numerous M5’s, E63’s, X5M included).

The more I spend time in mine, the more this becomes a "problem". Any normal car feels old hat...and you get used to the way the Taycan goes quite quickly.
They truly are brilliant machines and if you learn to work with them they are very rewarding. If you go in hating the EV and what is has to offer you’ll never get on with one.
In practice a 225-250 mile range and the infrastructure is more than adequate. Funny how it seems 90% of those who moan it doesn’t work haven’t actually had one!

Same experience between Xmas and New Year. Had a Macan T for 4 days it was like driving a tractor. Wasn't a silver Macan by any chance from Porsche Newcastle was it Gary? Interesting you prefer the Taycan to the M5 that was the other car in the running for me when I bought mine sounds like I made the right decision Sod the depreciation, it’s such an epic car…. Yep, loved the M5, but as I’ve written elsewhere on here, didn’t realise how much I enjoy the ultra refinement and hugely better ride quality of the Taycan. Couldn’t go back now anyway. Blatantly crass comment, but with this and the 812SF in the I’ve the ultimate 2 car garage (and enjoy driving my wife’s electric Mini around town).

That’s the dream garage right there an EV and a V12. I don’t think I’ve seen a 812SF in the north east there can’t be many.

You're not driving it hard enough
That’s more than sufficient for my 2 mile commute to work (albeit some would still argue EV’s just don’t have the range!)
