Apparently to be used to grow weed (I read it on the Internet, so it must be true)

It's not a new thing, no.

There were posts last year where theives had broken in & stolen them from a bunch of pre-delivery cars, mainly 911's. I think it was in the US.

Do the drug dealers really think these EV headlights help grow better weed, or are they just virtue signalling?

Electricity is expensive, and LEDs don’t give off loads of heat so less likely to be detected by thermal cameras on police aircraft.

I was trying to be funny by referencing the ongoing Pistonhead EV debate and using the word 'signaling' when discussing headlights. I'll get my coat...

But don’t all modern cars have LEDs? Or is another internet EV bad story.

So OPC's are being targeted ?

I guess that makes sense when so many cars are outside but look at the damage / reward calculation !

It's actually disheartening how bad things have got and how brazen thieves have become due to a lack of deterrent and the general attitude to theft in this country. This extends to things like motorcycles, bicycles, watches etc. I bet this theft wouldn't have happened at an OPC in Singapore or Norway

And they consume less electricity, so less likely to be metered...

And they can be tuned to specific light wavelengths for different phases of growth and desired outcomes.

There's no truth that these are being used for weed. The old rumour was that HID were being stolen for weed growing and that made no sense.

It's spare parts. It's always spare parts...
