For a while there just before xmas we were seeing prices as low as £55k on some used examples. I got mine at 62 with almost no miles 2024 car.

Looking around last few weeks I've noticed prices firming up considerably - £65k+ being the new norm.

Then I saw this today:

That's looking a bit hopeful if you ask me.....

For sure sports cars are more seasonally affected - but it would seem prices are way above what I thought they might be.

This is good news indeed. I always hoped that the dip was down to initial over-supply with the market getting flooded with cancelled orders and disappointed flippers. Also, Lotus have put prices up across the board which make the First Edition look like a relative bargain now.

I intend to hold on to mine so it was never a major worry but I still expect these to hold their price well like Evoras and Elises have done. Not so sure about Eletres though!

Wait until November. There's plenty of owners getting one last summer out of their cars still under warranty. With the economy heading South the whole sector will dip.

Plus the actual future of Lotus looks increasingly doubtful.

There's a huge gap now between the price of a new one and a used one at 60k so it'll be interesting to see what happens as winter comes around and cars start to fall out of warranty.
As an aside are people actually paying the near 100k asking for a new car, or can you get a signififcant discount on retail?

Agree. Can't see anything electric holding value. Depreciation on anything electric is simply diabolical at the moment.

JCT6000 seem to have had 4 Emiras come in today. No images on AT yet.

Be interesting to see values when quite a few Emiras start dropping out of warranty. I've only seen three in the flesh being used. A blue, great and a red. I know there's not many of them but it strikes me the owners generally don't daily them or indeed use them much at all.

Lots for sale have only achieved a few thousand miles a year. My usage based on the MX5 third car it would replace is I'd do at least 6000 miles annually.

I'm not sure warranty is a major issue - or maybe it's just me. One of the benefits of the Lotus cars has always been that they've never gone for crazy tech like adaptive dampers, active aero, or stuff like Porsche's PADM that cost a fortune to replace. It's largely simple stuff, with parts from other manufacturers that you can do fairly cheaply through specialists.

Dropping out of warranty wouldn't be an issue for me at all....hopefully it is for everyone else and the price drops to reflect that though wink

Cheapest I've seen in a long time and still has a small amount of warranty left!

So in a thread about prices holding it seems the reverse is true, I.e. they are falling fast.

It's one of the rare reasonably priced private sale - all the other private sellers are asking the same as dealers!

The same happened with the Evora initially prices dropped considerably then prices firmed up to the point now that they're pretty solid, I expect the Emira to go the same way.

Classic - somebody who takes a statistical outlier and forms an opinion from it.

Which is exactly what you did in your first post… laugh

Personally I’d try to forget about residuals and just enjoy the car. The residually obsessed have another well known brand to go to.

It's really rather sad that the vast bulk of recent post on this forum have been about the car's depreciation.

This one’s actually gone up in value (asking price). I was interested in it and then realised it was one I’ve looked at before. It was the one at Hendy that went down to £54295 (£53,975 with their £500 voucher) in Jan this year.

I looked at that one at time and decided not to buy … it’s had a bit of warranty work and time off road but no paint.
