Current Exige V6 owner and I'm looking to add an Emira into the mix. I love my Exige but it has a cage and a gearbox cooler where the boot should be, I use it for trackdays within a couple of hours drive but anything further afield, it's just too much of a chore.

The more I drive the Exige, the more I lust after a manual car with a really natural steering feel which has some level of practicality (I almost bought a Caterham to fulfil this niche so my interpretation of practicality has improved, somewhat).

Ideally I would have liked an Emira with some go faster bits and possibly some coilovers but the car seems to be a bit too new for that, so I would settle for a sports suspension car.

How does a stock car handle a semi regular trackday? A recent member of Lotus on Track so would hope to get to a few events this year.

Lots of TD stuff out there already, have a look at GRP (Gregs Race Parts) in the US for Emira upgrade kits

An interesting conundrum. Have you also developed the Exige more for the track (or perhaps you bought it track-developed)? If so, you'll probably go down the same path again with the Emira as the Exige may well be a better track car.

Will you be comfortable with a backwards step regarding track ability?

It will certainly be a more expensive one but there's little wrong with a V6 Exige on track but a 2hr drive to a TD and back is quite a lot when you've done a TD. The Emira is amazing but very different to an Exige.

I’m keeping the Exige for the foreseeable so unlikely the Emira would replicate the same nature of mods. I would like just a bit more power and some moderately adjustable suspension to really dial in the setup. What I meant was, that I’d like to buy a car that’s already been modified along these lines but due to the nature and age, lacking in the market.

What concerns me is the lack of a baffled sump and even an engine oil temp gauge on these cars, it makes me assume the aim was to keep this iteration as a strict road car. I own some German machinery, although the performance is outstanding, it’s the Brits in the garage that really get under my skin so would like to add an Emira.

Lichfield imports and Seriously Lotus both developed adjustable suspension for the Emira, along with power
upgrades as well.

Just buy one - and worry about all that stuff later.

You know you want to.

Take a look at the Evora Sport 410 or if you have the budget the 430. Both are ‘out of the box’ designed to be more track focused and give you comfort and space that is lacking in the Exige. It is possible to get an Emira to the same level but it will cost you more both in the short term and at resalw

I took my Emira with Sport suspension on track a couple of times and I wasn t enamoured at all. Understeer with snappy handling plus some strange characteristics with the steering under braking.

Recently sold it and bought a Evora Sport 410 which has a much better front end, better steering feel and much more progressive handling

You might be able to get an Emira to handle as well as an Evora but not guaranteed it would very much have to be a heart over head decision

The Evora is certainly still in the mix, I’ve called up about a couple of Emiras and they have either sold or going in for warranty work.

I am keeping a close eye on the Evora market as well, it’s going to be tricky to get back to back test drives as far less Evoras available.
