I know there are some cheaper cars about but i like the fact this is from a main dealer who seem to be good. I have only recently started looking at these so how does the spec look?

Yep looks way too expensive for a 2023 with almost 1k miles.

Subjective but DV not the best colour especially with black wheels and black calipers.

Tan is more like terracotta.....rather an acquired taste.

Tracker was a £500 option on the earlier run V6 recollect it went up to £750 on later cars.

£59k tops retail on the assumption there is no bubbling paint.

All very subjective but DV in the flesh looked classy to me and not a boring black interior.

Good luck with it

Dark Verdant with tan is a nice combo, but possibly works better with silver wheels and without the upper black pack.

Price a bit toppy, even for a main dealer. I think Jon (Fridaypassion) has sold a couple of similar age/miles cars for c.£61k.

Colour scheme works for me , maybe not in the flesh but we will see. Wonder if there is any wriggle room with main dealers atm?

Other than colour schemes there is little spec variation as they are all first edition.

Enjoy the test drive and let us know how you got on.

Before going to see them, perhaps arm yourself with comparative cars at lower prices? I don't know quite why I am saying this, I am hopeless at negotiating! I've had a little bit of success in the past, but it has always involved walking away and waiting to see if the dealer blinks and I think that doesn't work all that well these days!

Good luck with the viewing!

Surely the v6 manual is the one to go for - the i4 is meh?

Book a test drive and offer them a real low price if everything ties up.

i4 engine is amazing...if you can even get into 7th let alone 8th gear in one in the UK I would love to know what road...........!

V6 & i4 are both nice cars depends on how much traffic you have to negotiate if you think V6 manual is the one to go for I guess!

Nice car. That dealer - the one in Silverstone - tends to always be at the top of the prices. Probably being so close to racing heritage or some such idea in their head - or maybe there really are lots of very wealthy people round there and/or it's like Lotus second home - but whatever the reason that particular branch is always at the top of the prices.

You can pick up a green one sub £58k right now. I'm not so sure it matters much about it being a main dealer. If anything goes wrong with it whoever you get it off you're going to take it to Lotus to fix and they're going to pay for it too. Some people here have had some trouble with non-dealers but to me they're never going to be the one's to fix it so as soon as you've bought it you want to find yourself a dealer who can service it. Who you buy it off - to me - is not that important. Not when you have a manufacturers warrantee in hand.

So - you're paying at least £5k more than you need to in my opinion.

Huh? Where'd you get that idea? He's said nothing about what gearbox he likes and you jump to the conclusion that he'd be better off in an auto. Huh? You're a funny guy. You originally come on all strong about getting a brand new one for top money but Lotus keep messing you about and you're having to wait without any clear date as to when you'll actually get it - fair enough we all think - so people say you can get one right now for £20k less and so you take that advice get one and you fall in love with it saying it's the total b0ll0x sending in rapturous reports and million pictures (all of which looked great imho). Next we hear you hate the thing and can't wait to get shot of it - and now you're offering advice off the top of your head before making any enquiries as to what the guy's after.

James leaves stage left shaking his head.

Good to know , thanks. Looking around I agree maybe it’s a bit punchy price wise but surely if you buy from a main dealer rather than a 3rd party they will try that bit harder to fix stuff if required

Sure. It's all about risk and reward. What risk are you willing to take for the expected reward. Currently there's a green manual with 1000 miles at £57.5 meaning you're paying £7500 for the belief that a main dealer's going to help you better if you'd bought the car with them.

I got my i4 off a specialist in Chichester and have never thought for a moment I'd take the car back to them for anything that went wrong (why would I with a manufacturer's warrantee) - any independent will simply send you to a dealer anyway. Maybe I'm lucky as my nearest dealer is Bell and Colvill which are one of the oldest Lotus dealers in the country (in fact I think they may be THE longest running). Soon as I got my car I contacted them explained I was looking for somebody to look after the car from now on and had a chat with their head of service. You know - talk to the head man and all that. He explained a few interesting things about the car - showed me their set-fee service terms (£430 for years one and three, £710 for year two and £1290 for the 40,000 or four years service). Found out I can get another Emira as a courtesy car (though they want £60 for that privilege). Booked it in already to get the first years service done and the latest software updates added and sort out one problem with the car (windscreen washers gave up the ghost).

I could have got roughly the same car at a main dealer - at the time I was looking - for £70k. I paid £62.5. Bell and Colvill seemed more than happy to be taking the car on for its lifetime of servicing from me - and I don't see how any other dealer if approached respectfully wouldn't feel the same.

But heck - that's me and everybody has their own slant on things huh?

I wish you an excellent Sunday and either way my personal view is that you won't be disappointed with the car once you get it.

The only benefit I can see from buying from a main dealer is if that's the dealer that will be repairing it. You might get better after-sales service.

I had forgotten about bell and covill , they are actually pretty close to me. For some reason I had got ii in my head silverstone would be my closest. Shame they don’t have any for sale atm

Maybe not - but they would be able to service the car should you decide to save yourself £7500 and buy from an independent.
