Can any owners comment on the quality of the KEF audio system.

Watched a couple of reviews that said “it doesn’t go loud enough” and “Very disappointed with the KEF, sound quality is poor”.

What’s it like?

I think it is pretty good. Plenty powerful enough with good bass. It is as good as the HK system in my BMW 3 series, although the Emira is less refined of course so any system has more background noise to contend with. If you are in Sport mode and giving it the beans the V6 is much more entertaining than the KEF stereo :-)

Yeah it's fine, certainly not bad. Goes loud enough for me.

It's not a standout system but for the class of car it's good enough

Mine was underwhelming to start off with but I think the speakers were 'tight' and needed running in.

I'm at 2,000 miles on the car and a lot of that is with the 'toons' on and it sounds really nice now. Plenty loud enough, the bass is nice and crisp now (sub was boomy at first) and lovely quality to the sound from the rest of the speakers. I am only using spotify via car play so wireless.

I found it makes a big difference if you tweak the equaliser settings 👌

I'll take a photo fpr you when im in the car, but basically I was a little under-whelmed with the audio until I did this...

- went into the channel audio levels and ramp them all up (other than navigation / ringtone)
- then went into the EQ and...
- high to around 9 / 10
- mid to around 8 / 10
- bass to around 7 / 10

When I did this I found the audio to be MUCH better / louder.

But play with the above levels to suit your personal preferences.

just an update to this - the KEF is night and day better when the speakers get run in - which takes a surpriringly long time!!

from my understanding the higher frequencies are in the wrong place and the A pillar tweeter pods are empty.
not a good design consdering the capability of Kef who are a great speaker company!!!

very odd.

i thought the system was pretty poor when i last heard it; but then again majority of OEM audio solutions are poor so Lotus/Geely no different in their thinking tbh.

if you want decent sound you will have to consider aftermarket gear

Yep.

I don't have this car, but do have Uni-Q drivers in speakers at home. They're stiff little things and do take quite a few hours to run in.
