Discounted stock Emiras...
Discussion
I think there's quite a factor of early adopters, people who want the newest thing, influencers and speculators these days so quite a few cars will be moved on at the end of the summer as those customers get whatever the next big thing is. The car was unfortunate in launching just as financing costs rocketed and the one owner I know has a lot of flashy things but a hidesouly large mortgage that will come up for refinancing this year.
That said Lotus still have a big backlog of orders and do not seem in any way desperate to gain more orders or indeed to market the car much in the UK. They've done sod all to promote the i4 recently. YouTube is a ghost town as far as Emira goes. Porsche are clearly struggling outisde of their four wheel SUV market so we are definitely in a new era.
As soon as we hit the mid 50's for Emira I think the residuals will harden a lot.

I agree. For all the doom mongering these cars are selling. I suspect a lot are selling for nearer 70k as well. Only a few have really popped up at 65 and they are going for what I think is strong money trade too.
Lotus might have had issues with cancelled cars in this country but overall demand must be decent. Another big clue for this is that they haven't announced any special editions yet. We're over a year into production now and if they were needing a shot in the arm for sales this would have been mentioned. I suspect overall they are still drowning in orders especially from the USA where the economy is better and they have not had a new Lotus for a long time. It's too easy to view a very international company through the eyes of us here in a pretty down at heel UK although we're most certainly on our way out of the pretty decent recession they have tried to tell us we never had last year!

Certainly a tantalising prospect. I sold my 2018 Evora Sport 410 just before Christmas and after a brief stint owning an S1 Exige I'm now looking at GT4s in £65-£70k bracket but a sub 5k miles Emira at circa £60k is hard to ignore... My only concern is that it's potentially not as focussed or aggressive as a GT4 as a weekend toy, ( or even vs my old Evora ), + it looks like there's a while to go yet before they start to harden..I need a toy for the summer so don't want to wait too long before getting into something however whilst it's a buyers market now it feels like jumping in could cost £5k vs hanging on for 6 months..
Hard to know how it will effect thinks like GT4 as there must be quite a few potential buyers having their heads turned..

It is more likely they haven't released special editions because of manufacturing issues. The 4 pot version is over a year late...
If they were selling well, why are there so many pre reg on AT or numerous reports of lotus having warehouses full of bulky cars unsold?
And strong trade? A few pages back there was a car on trade bid that didn't even get to £60k....
Finally the advertised cars are coming down in price (despite us moving into spring), as shown empirically on AT....

It would go on for 70 I would think
There are 29 cars priced at £70k or below. 3 have less than 500 miles.
23 have less than 5,000 miles.
A 9,000 mile car at £70k would be sitting around for a while looking for a buyer given the rest of the cars on the market in my opinion

All the reviews I've seen indicate that the Emira is a more refined, much less raw, and a bit softer compared to the Evora Sport 410. So, based on your requirements, I think the Emira might disappoint.Hard to know how it will effect thinks like GT4 as there must be quite a few potential buyers having their heads turned..
I think we are now back to 'normal depreciation' for used cars so I can see both the Emira and GT4 having depreciated £5k by autumn.

Tempted to get into one now where prices are, seems a much better value proposition at ~£65k rather than £90k new. Only problem is I am struggling to find the right spec/price combo. Touring red/blue cars seem hard to find, the only ones I can seem to find appear to be with lotus dealers which seem to be a bit optimistic with their pricing compared to independents, especially when they aren't offering anymore than independents when cars will still all be under warranty.
