Near-mint Ducati ST4S 2001 21k miles, same owner for 15 years
996 engine with Ohlins suspension and luggage

Ok you may not have thought about a Duc ST, but this is one of Ducati's finest efforts. Described as 'one of the most balanced and effective bikes I have ever had the pleasure of riding' by Neil Spalding, MotoGP commentator and proprietor of Sigma Performance. This one combines the superb 996 4-valve engine with all-day comfort and Ohlins suspension. Supremely torquey even 2-up yet returning a consistent 55+mpg giving a 220+mile range. Ducatis of this time (under TPG management) had excellent finish and quality control. The few known quirks of the ST have been sorted out during 15 years of cherished ownership making this one of the best available for sale today. Low miles but used frequently, it did 1600 miles in 6 days recently, trouble-free, and wants for nothing. I'd love to keep it but these days cannot ride as much as I used to.

Standard features:
996 engine: real-world torque, efficient and long-lived
Ohlins shock and Ti-nitrided forks (stanchions like new)
Brembo brakes with HH pads, all pistons smooth
Marchesini wheels (also like new) fitted with Michelin Pilot Road tyres
Ducati matching side panniers, good capacity but well tucked-in

Valuable extras:
Ducati Performance topbox and rack, takes 2 full-face helmets
Carbon rear hugger mudguard/chainguard
Odyssey PC680 battery
Sidestand bypass wiring (allows engine to run with the stand down, but stops if placed into gear with the stand still down)
Progrip 714 grips, comfy slight barrel shape

Full service history, first by Ducati then Carl Harrison (Norfolk Ducati legend) then Moto-R Ducati specialist. Recent valve service (all rockers good, the engine is always warmed up before riding). Replacement ECU (common fault) with latest ST4S map.
Long MoT, 24 Apr 2024

Known issues/quirks sorted:
Standard seat repadded with gel (better than standard and better for me than a Sargent)
Higher spec Odyssey battery with Optimate charger lead fitted
Sidestand wiring kit allowing it to run whilst on the stand in neutral
14T front sprocket (the standard 15T gives way too high gearing)
Quiet clutch mod (stack height adjusted for silence, with mild cymbals when lever is pulled)

Original documentation, both black keys and red key all present
Security: Alphadot marking, Tangent alarm (currently disconnected)

Optional extras (not fitted but available at extra cost):
Ducati Performance badged carbon exhausts, lovely sound
Ducati Performance soft bags which fit exactly into the panniers
Red cordura Oxford compact tankbag with map/gps pocket
Bespoke waterproof cover by Specialised Covers

I'll take a video with sound with the carbon silencers, then another with the standard exhaust. The bike is priced with the standard exhaust fitted. Thanks for reading.
