Anyone 'reserved' an A390?
Discussion
I have paid my (fully returnable) £390 for an early place in the queue for an A390 when it gets released in the the UK. Deliveries expected 2nd Quarter 2026 apparently.
I have a Kia EV6 that is over 3yrs old and has been great. Swift, comfortable, bit different and practical without being vast. We carry bikes in the boot and kayaks on the roof much more often than passengers.
No EV out there now, or in the pipeline has been tempting me as a replacement. Macan electric, too big, too many expensive 'extras' on the base model even if they would sell you that one. Polestar 3 stylish but too big, and I read too many reports of issues. BMW ix3 NC will be sold out for a year and too big agwin. The i3 NC will apparently have a Touring version, but not going to be available for ages.
The Alpine appeals. Stylish, sensible size, great reviews for the two models since the re-launch. All will depend on price (GT in France equates to about £59k) and of course a test drive but I am tempted.
Anyone else?

Not reserved, no, but very tempted to have an A390 in my garage alongside my A110. Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Marseille "Salon d'Auto" as a guest of Alpine, where they had an A390 GT on display. I'm not usually a fan of SUVs, but the A390 is a beautiful thing in the flesh, although the show car was fitted with 12k worth of extras, taking it to near 80k. Before committing, I will want to see the base GT with standard seats and 20 inch wheels, and of course have a drive. My dealer in Marseille will receive their demo cars mid December, so I'm looking forward to that.

Let us know what you think. Are you waiting for an RHD one if you order?
One question from me if you have a moment. Could you measure the length from the inside of the boot lip to the front seat back with the rears folded? The full load length in other words. I cannot find it anywhere online.
Have fun!

So GT is Likely April 2026, GTS we are being told first half of 2026, so mid onwards I would say.
We drove GT's, all specced up to mimic a GTS; GTS wheels and leather, we were told that this would be possible, however initial training in Goodwood we were advised the only changes that can be made to GT would be GTS wheels, different colour calipers and a couple of interior packs, the training last week was for all of Europe as opposed to UK specific, as we all know the UK tends to get less flexibility in general in terms of changing spec of cars so that aspect is a bit of an unknown currently.
The car itself is amazing, handles superbly and honestly feels like a light car, it changes direction in an instant and just doesn't feel cumbersome at all, it is bloody quick too.
I have watched 1 review and read another, both are generally positive about the car, however the thing they both mention is the shared with other Renault's, switch gear and interior screen set up, yes it is identical to Scenic E-tech and Megane E-Tech, these have universal praise for the infotainment and Google integration and their quality and feel, yes they are cheaper cars, however I do think both reviewers were being a bit harsh as the general quality of the interior, particularly the leather is top notch with other fantastic materials used throughout, it does feel like an expensive car and whilst many will do the usual "£50-£70k for a Renault", no other cars offer the same technology for that price, the only other cars that have Active Torque Vectoring are Tesla Models S Plaid and the Q8, both are well over £100k.
I think it will struggle, in the UK at least, to win over the usual German crowd, however it will appeal to people who like to be a bit different.

Your experience seems to fit with the reviews to date, albeit of late prototypes. Everyone seems to comment it feels lighter than it is.
I think where it is placed in the market is going to be important for Alpine. I don't see it as having a direct competitor really, but it is more comparable with vehicles like the Kia EV6 GT, Ioniq 5/6n and maybe BMW i4 etc rather than the Polestars, Porsche Macan or equivalent Audis. It isn't an SUV to my eyes, and the relatively compact size is actually a selling point for me. Pricing will be key though, especially if it is at the levels of the Macan etc. As you say, it is going to be a 'different' choice and that is a plus. I am sure Alpine aren't expecting huge volume sales.
I don't have an issue with using Renault parts and infotainment etc if the materials and internal ambiance are good and feel appropriate for the price. Rather use a well established (and well regarded) system than a new one full of glitches (Polestar take note).
I'm still very interested pending a drive. Seat comfort is make or break for me in a new car. I think the warranty is disappointing on a £60k car (we have two Kias with 7 year warranties) and I wish they had a dealer closer to me but those aren't deal-breakers.
I look forward to it becoming available for a drive in the UK

I have received an invitation to an expenses paid launch event in April. Unfortunately it is at Goodwood, a 600 mile round trip for me!
I hope they recognise some live N of Watford and can put something on closer to me.

Did the invitation come from your local dealer or from Alpine UK?
