Probably a stupid question but has anyone managed to improve radio reception in the earlier Alpines ?

I haven’t, no. Sorry I don’t have better news. And now my windscreen has a stress crack across it I wonder if that’s affecting it (I heard the ‘aerial’ is in the windscreen?).

It’s no better in the car play cars either.

The aerial is, I believe, the line in the top of the windscreen running down from the rear view mirror (look carefully) so if the crack doesn’t cross that then I would have thought it unlikely to be having an impact.

Hi Colin - ah, maybe the crack is making no difference after all, as it goes from the drivers side bottom corner across where the wiper blades rear. I guess my radio is just bad because it’s just bad!

Is it bad compared to DAB in other cars?

I've always found that DAB is generally patchy and the Alpine is no different but doesn't seem worse, although I've only driven mostly Renault and Ford.

23MY GT.

Can’t say I have had any issue whatsoever - so far - with DAB.

The DAB in my Alpine is definitely worse than the DAB in my Alpina (F30 D3).
Having said that, both suffer from dropouts, e.g. on some parts of the M11 and in some rural areas of Essex.

I find the DAB reception to be slightly better than my previous BMW 240i.

The DAB (and FM) in the alpine definitely worse than any other car I’ve had with it. Seat, VW, MINI, Alfa, Fiat and by some margin.

The car is so low and sleek the radio waves can not easily attach to the car - FACT.

The best way to improve radio reception is to get an SUV which is taller and therefore intercepts more waves.

And before you ask I got a GCSE grade 2 in physics so no arguments please.

I had awful DAB reception, moving my dashcam 8-10 inches further away from rear view mirror and it's now pretty much perfect reception
