Hi,

I understand that this may be possible without hardware changes/dongles.

I have seen talk of there being some instructions floating around on how to do this. Facebook has been mentioned, but I cannot find it (possibly because I don't have a facebook account and don't want one).

Does anyone have access to the instructions and could post up on here?

Thanks

Just checking do you have a later car plus an ODB dongle and one of the better apps ? If so send me a msg as you're not set to receive - its relatively easy but still a bit fiddly and like so many computer things you think it hasn't worked then suddenly it has plus it takes a little getting used to

I have a 2024 GT and despite the dealer saying Android Auto needed a cable it works wirelessly without me having done anything at all!
Maybe only on the most recent cars?

I suspect the equipment was wireless ready since the 2022 upgrade but the software only caught up in mid 2023 so at some point after then cars were probably shipped with it turned on as standard

Have done it, and it's pretty straightforward.

I read the Facebook guide then used;

this ODB dongle (which is now permanently plugged in) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XGB4873?th=1

iPhone app Car Scanner https://www.carscanner.info

Selecting the basic Renault profile in the app.

Same, used an Amazon dongle - Nexus something or other, car scanner pro and all working wirelessly here too. thumbup

For bonus points, see below for another neat use for your OBD reader.

It uses a different app called OBD Fusion and can be configured per the chaps instructions to display on the CarPlay screen.

I now have live tyre pressures & temps on one page - but most usefully, engine coolant temp and engine oil temp on another.

I translated the instructions with my browser and it all worked as described for tyres. I then had a play with the Fusion app myself and found the coolant and oil temperature sensor info and then made a new CarPlay screen to display it on.

Good luck!

Hmm, looks like it might need some dealer assistance. The software version is up to date and the correct one, but the car still isn’t showing the WLAN.

Must be something in the background.

Mines registered 2023, but think it was manufactured end of 22.

I haven't checked on a car for the exact sequence but look for the devices screen shown in the middle of page 7.6 of the multimedia handbook - this is the one with the useful bottom row and the option to turn bluetooth on (in the software not the system) - the car I activated was six months older than yours so yours should be possible too - at this stage it is unclear if dealers can help

you hit the nail on its head, this change using a combination of dongle/app enables wifi and therefore wireless CarPlay.

Hold on - tyre pressures and temps?! I've been wanting that since I got the car! I figured it must be possible, at least the pressures, as the system must know in order to give the low pressure warning. I'll be getting this done. Thank you!

ah, as pointed out by fellow PE owner, Neil, this won't work for my PE because we don't have CarPlay in the radio unit on our model.. Does anyone know if the later radio with CarPlay will slot into the PE model?

Finally got 20 minutes to do this, all working hunky dory. Thanks for the pointers.

You don’t actually need to pay to upgrade the AP to “pro”, the standard free one will do it. I used the Nexas nexlink off Amazon.

Hi, could anyone help me with a link to the Facebook instructions?

I’ll need to join to get the instructions and give this a go.

Thanks.

Thanks to johnnyreggae I got hold of the conversion instructions but unfortunately seem to have failed at the first hurdle!

My car has Apple CarPlay but doesn't appear to have the option to turn on WiFi, despite the manual indicating that it should.

It was registered in 2023 bit is likely an early 2022 build.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I might be missing?

That confused me too (see my post above about needing the dealer to do this, which is my version of your post here) it won’t appear until you have changed the settings.
