I would like to change my number plates.
My car came from Alp Orpington - the plates appear to be riveted onto the car. I have not seen this before - all previous cars have used screws or adhesive for the number plate.
Any suggestions as to how best remove the rivets and then refix new plates?

i think it was a French requirement at some point. If you dont need the plate afterwards, maybe some pincer pliers? That's if you dont find its like my bike plate, with some rivet heads superglued on biggrin

Drill/dremel the heads off? Refix the new plates with adhesive?

As above, drill the heads out of the rivets. They are only soft, but unfortunately the holes underneath are too big for standard number plate screws, so you will need to plug them with something.

Isn't the front plate mount curved which is why it is riveted - the plate is mounted on a plinth which is then in turn riveted to the bumper as I recall - there have been a couple of threads about the possibility of removing it for stick-on and/or small plate

Drill them out, put a match stick or something in the hole then use screws

Or sticky tape

As others have said, it should be easy to drill out the rivets.
Personally I wouldn't worry about the over-sized holes, and stick new ones over the holes with some serious double-sided tape.
Simple enough to bend the front one by gently heating up and bending slightly to shape before fitting.

The front number plate carrier is secured with 4 Torx screws so can be easily removed and reinstalled.

Just drill them out then put a pair of rivnuts in the bumper. That way you can remove and refit the plinth easily. Works well takes 10 min. (I’m referring to the plinth rivets, obvs)

Correct, and still is.
