Have generally understood that moving the seat down a notch (currently on middle setting in my S) is a dealer job.
Anyone tried / know how easy / hard it is to do yourself?
I was sitting in an Alpine R in the showroom - it feels like the R seat sits lower and I liked the driving position - although it is obviously slightly less convenient day to day - so interested to try it - but if it is not too difficult to move back, would be interesting to know.

I got the dealer to drop mine but shouldn't be too difficult. Haven't looked myself but the technician said you need extra long socket extension bar as you access the centre bolts from door side under the seat.

It's not hard, but it's easy to bend the pins on the security torx bolts (and then you need to clamp with mole grips to undo the thing and obviously need replacement bolts). I don't remember specifically which combination of sockets and torx keys I used.

The bolts are supposed to be replaced every time and you'll need a security torx bit, a mini ratchet helps as there's not a lot of room if you're going to do it in situ. I'd sooner put a towel over the centre console and sill then remove the whole seat/runners, lay the seat on another towel and go from there.

It's amazing how light the buckets are, you can pick them up with one hand easily!

Another thread here:

I replaced the horrible security Torx button head screws with hex head bolts. Socket head capscrews would be fine too.

I had mine dropped to the bottom after a month trying it in the middle setting. No charge. Though I did have to wait a few weeks for the bolts to come in stock.

I don't think it's difficult, it's just that Alpine use new bolts each time it's moved.

I agree, it's much easier/faster to remove the seat and make the adjustments out of the car. A 16mm ratchet spanner to use on the four flanged nuts makes the seat removal process much easier, then tilt/lift the seat and undo/unclip two connectors.

^ I usually take the nuts off from underneath the car and remove the seat with the runners attached, I didn't think there was much room to unbolt the seat frame from the runners but will give that a go next time.
