Morning all, just placed a deposit on an A110 from the really excellent Mark at Solihull, subject to finance, I hope to be driving in March. I am considering a tracker, ghost immobiliser and dashcam. If any of you good people have recently opted for any of these products for your cars I’d be grateful for any thoughts you are happy to share. Thanks in advance.

I've got a tracker from Trutrak, service has been very good, reports available on the app and webiste are really useful.

I fitted the FMB920.

I can share where/how I fitted mine via a PM if you like - not just on the battery, was easy to do.

I bought one of these following a recommendation on here:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0BS4YRX4X?psc=1&...

Easy to install (and neat), but mine blocked the DAB signal when fitted close to the rear view mirror 'pod'. I have repositioned it nearer the A-post, which has solved the problem but is less unobtrusive. Dashcams interfering with DAB is a known effect (I subsequently found out) but not all cameras affect all cars.

I've got an A110GT coming on the 1st March, spoke to my insurance company, LV, and they require a tracker which gives real time tracking and is monitored by the manufacturer, a third party or a phone app.
My local tracker installing company are fitting a Scorpion S5 which satisfies those requirements, not too expensive but there is a monthly subscription.
For quite a bit more money Scorpion offer a S7 which would also immobilise the car.
I have dashcams in my other cars, self fitted to a stick on mount at the bottom of the screen and plugged into the 12V but I want to keep the Alpine "pure" ie. no trailing wires so I'll either have one hardwired in or not bother.

It's pretty easy to hide 99% of the instal of a dash cam. I use Blackvue cameras:
If it helps mine is run from the power outlet at the rear of the centre consul, tucked up under the consul trim on the passenger side, under the carpet in the passenger footwell and then within the passenger door rubber up to the top of the A pillar, under the pillar trim and then tucked into the roof lining. Pretty much the same on all our cars and really easy way to route them. Invisible other the a few inches of cable at the power outlet.

I must admit though, appreciating some may have insurance requirements, but I cannot see me ever having a tracker installed. Frankly you have no idea what has happened to a stolen car, so if someone nicks my car I'd rather never see it again.

Thanks for the tips. I think tracker with immobilisation is the way forward for me, just the peace of mind that comes with it clinches it but 100 percent understand not wanting to see a car that’s been nicked again in case it’s been abused

I'm considering a Ghost immobilizer as I've just bought a new car that scrotes would like to take.

Only that a lot of damage will be done to it before the C£_&s realise that they can't start it.

As others have said, if the car is going to be stolen I'd rather is just disappeared.

Just a thought, on the MyAlpine app there is a map that shows the location of the car?
