I'm ever closer to getting into an Alpine and at the stage of looking at a garage to keep her safe, my most local garage doesn't offer viewings but gives approx sizes and looking at the Alpine dimensions on Parkers, it would leave me with around 40cm room on width, is this feasible for exit/entry?

Depends on your size and fitness!!

There are only 2 opening points on the car, first around that 40cm point, but second needs a metre.

My garage is around 320cm wide. This requires careful positioning to get that 1m point. And I use carpet on the wall of the driver side to help.

I'm pretty slim and do plenty of yoga. smile

The garage may be closer to 60cm free width but of course that would likely be with the nearside right up against it.

Thanks for the info, worst case scenario I put my old car in the garage, climb out the window, then have space for the Alpine on the driveway.

I can get in and out with 40cm - but you do have to be pretty slim and agile (I'm 60kg) I do plenty of exercise too - not yoga and I am pretty geriatric. So you should be fine if you put some carpet on the wall. 60cm is a doddle.

I've got a normal new house garage and have a method.

1. Hang a ball from the roof joists and position it so that you can aim for it though the little antenna line on the windscreen at a height to hit that line
2. Put something bouncy on the wall 'just in case'
3. Drive in and when your mirrors are though the door opening, steer to line your ball up through the windscreen
4. STOP when the ball hits the antenna line
5. Slide the seat back

Now you will have a great door opening angle

I have screwed a small block of wood behind the rear wheel as a chock to reverse up to.

If you reverse gently you can't go beyond it.

And foam or carpet on the walls where the doors open is a must.

I'd agree with this. We have a double garage which my wife drives in forwards and I reverse in. The drivers doors therefore open into the middle. Generally I have c60cm (assuming you are measuring from the widest point of bodywork, not the end of the wing mirror) and that is easy peasy. When however she can't be arsed to park properly (all too often) I'm left with about 40cm, which is getting pretty tight, but doable (and I'm somewhat more than 60kg).
