Anyone know what brand/spec coolant should be used? My nearside coolant bottle is on 'MIN', so needs topping up...

Was a (minor) issue that a number of us had on new cars. Suspect it's just a matter of getting the last bit of air out of the system - but worth checking pretty early on new cars.

About 500ml from MIN to MAX.

Checking the car before a journey yesterday (engine stone cold) I found the nearside coolant down again -it took about 100ml to top up. I know that's not a lot, but it is some; is this normal? I'm used to moderns that never need anything.
Car has done 11k miles.

I think it must be quite difficult to get the last bit of air out of the system. On cold days I always thought the heater took just a bit longer than I liked to deliver any warmth. Not terrible but only producing warmth at the end of my 3 mile commute.

Just had my 5 year service which required a coolant change (at vast expense). Turns out it wasn't a waste of money since the heater now warms up approximately twice as quickly.

The manual mentions the coolant level may drop during running phase, it doesn't mention topping it up though, other than in another section where it recommends topping up before it falls to MINI.

2.2
Note: for a new vehicle in the running-in phase: the coolant level may be higher than the “MAXI” mark on the tank, then drop to between the levels “MINI” and “MAXI”. This does not present a risk.
