Has anyone tried to fully replace the infotainment screen with an aftermarket screen?

The infotainment in earlier models seems it would be redundant should one be able to install an aftermarket screen, with the only loss being telemetrics.

I'm sure this must be possible by fully the IHU and screen but not sure what would happen with warnings etc and if anyone makes a CAN cable/adapter for the aftermarket screen packages.

Edit: This seems to be the closest someone is getting to what I'm thinking of.

I'm thinking one could also use a simple non-IHU aftermarket android screen with an Aux connection to the car, then leave the stock screen in Aux mode and stick the new screen over the top.

Not mine but it's somewhat possible!

It looks really decent.

The standard Infotainment works ok but Android Auto is just that much better, with google maps, album artwork on music etc, it really makes me want to bypass the native system.
