I’ve owned the car a couple of days, I know that as it’s rained since rolled into the garage on Thursday

Can anyone tell me what the data connection does on the media system, I’m guessing it’s traffic info, how does it work and what do I need to do.

Also is there any way of adjusting the radio volume on the screen and getting out of apple car play without just unplugging the phone. I’ve been sitting in the garage and can’t solve it.

Now a battery charge question. Will any optimiser type device work, I used Oxford oximsers on my other cars and bikes , Will that work?

On a positive I fitted my Garmin dash cam, easiest fit I’ve done in a while.

From CarPlay go to the list of apps - you will see one called Alpine. Click on that and it takes you out of CarPlay.

You can adjust the volume using the horrid-looking control thing below the windscreen wiper stalk.

If you get the newer My Alpine app for your phone and add your car to it, within the app you'll see data;

Car current location
Are the lights on?
Current mileage
Vehicle info
Service schedule

I must stick up for the "control thing". I like it. It's a lot less horrid looking than some of the car's other bits. It does its job well, & you can use it without even looking at it, which is something that cannot be said about many of the other controls in the cabin.

Pull both + & - levers for mute/unmute. Also, there are hidden buttons underneath (or maybe on the back) that do something, but I can't remember what - I get along fine without them.

Seconded... I can't see it when I'm driving so a care little what it looks like, its functional (the weird roller ball thingy on the back changes music tracks or radio stations) but, best of all, its the only volume control so on the rare occasions Radio Two plays '70s prog-rock I can play it at ear splitting levels without being overruled by Mrs T.

The data connection is for map updates and system updates. If you encounter any new car glitches (such as the infotainment system re-booting when the stop start activates) give it a few days for the system to update.
The rotary wheel on the back of the horrible (yep, I'm in that camp) Renault control stalk, which I would swap for a rotary volume knob anyday, moves you forwards and backwards through radio stations or tracks (Spotify - Carplay).
The right hand arrow button brings up the voice control menu, which is the fastest way to listen to the radio if Carplay is active. It goes straight to the last station you were listening to and avoids multiple presses on the touchscreen to achieve the same. It doesn't suffer from the radio station amnesia bug either, which often happens via the Alpine logo.

Thanks folks, I’ve had a few older Clios so I’m quite familiar with the stalk, it does the job and I never really thought anything about it in my Renault sport 200. I just thought I had seen some information on being able to manage the volume on screen as well

Does the My Alpine app work with the older infotainment system too?

Volume also controlled through the touch screen by pressing the little + icon on the right hand side

Mine hasn’t got a little + icon. I’ve decided there is no way of accessing any volume controls on the screen without first pressing volume up or down on the stalk, which then throws up the volume icons on the top of the screen

Same here. Mrs T and I spent a fruitless 30 mins this morning trying to get the volume slider to stay on screen, but as you say its only on the screen temporarily after you have used the steering column volume controls... unless fuzzy knows different.

Totally - you can only work the on screen controls : if you're quick and the volume was just changed

You can get to it manually on screen via the three dots > sound settings. But it’s more presses than it ought to be just to access volume on screen. I’d assumed you could swipe down from the top of the display to see the menu which briefly displays when using the stalk, but sadly not.
The stalk serves its purpose but boy is it ugly and at odds with the rest of the contemporary interior. Keeps costs down is the kindest thing I can say about it!

I think we have 2 different things here;

Original touch screen setup (MySpin) righthand dash switch is blank
Volume changeable by steering column control or use a + sign menu and adjust the volume

Dacia style touch screen setup (CarPlay + Android Auto) righthand dash switch is on/off
Volume changeable by steering column control (and if you're quick the screen)

Sorry, should have said. My info relates to MY22 updated media system. You don’t have to be quick to adjust the volume on screen, it’s just more of a faff than it should be without using the stalk.
