Premier Edition Corrosion
Discussion
Hello All
I am looking at a Premier Edition which has corrosion on both rear arches, I understand this was a common issue?
If I become the second owner will Alpine repair this under warranty?
Has anyone had similar and had it repaired to their satisfaction?
Thanks
Dave
PS - Why did this happen only to the early cars?

I have a PE which I have owned from new and it has this issue.
I am out of warranty and I am in the process of getting this fixed, also check the drain holes under the rear window as mine have some there too.
Alpine seem to accept this is an issue and are prepared to have it fixed under warranty.
I very much doubt being a second owner would be an issue, but maybe check the service history as they may insist that it had the annual paint inspection.
Mine has always been serviced by Alpine.

Rust!?! I love Alpines and have been considering buying one but the idea of corrosion on such a new car is terrifying quite frankly!!
Not ideal - but given that the body is all aluminium it's not as if it's the same as rust on a steel car. It's very localised too just where the rear arch meets the adjacent panel, and, depending on the light, quite difficult to spot.bcr5784 said:

But still.... ! It's like the S550 Mustangs.... Aluminium panels but prone to paint lift and oxidisation because the aluminium wasn't processed/treated/whatever properly in the factory. I had a 2017 GT with 5,000 miles on it and rusty front wings. Totally factory paint. I can forgive a Mustang to an extent but on something like an Alpine it's completely unacceptable.

I think you are overstating it - the area affected is less than a square inch.I can forgive a Mustang to an extent but on something like an Alpine it's completely unacceptable.
Had it on a 2019 Legende - a few small patches in the usual places - no argument from the dealer and rectified in the paint shop - you would never know it happened. No drama and certainly not a reason not to buy what it is still a great car. Like most on here have had lots of different cars and when you buy a low volume French sports car painted by a guy with a Gitane hanging out of his mouth while wafting around the paint gun you go in with your eyes open and expect a few "quirks". Had an Audi S3 from years gone by with a failed air con as a stone got through the grill and punctured the compressor - took 6 months of arguing that it was crap design before they replaced it without charging £2K despite the car being under warranty - that is crap service!
