Hi everyone!

I’m in the process of swapping my BMW M140i for a 22 plate Fire Orange Alpine. Who do people use for competitive insurance?

I tried to change my existing policy with Aviva but they have an A110 listed as an Alpina instead of Alpine so the quote is completely wrong! Anyone insured with Aviva should check their docs as you can’t correctly select a modern Alpine on their quote system.

Thanks and brace yourselves for more questions!

Thanks

Jez

There are some insurance suggestions in the owners long thread from the past couple of days - its possible Aviva list the car under Renault as others have insured with them online as Alpine

Ok thanks I’ll have check there.

Definitely not listed under Renault as I checked that. The A110 listed as a model only under the Alpina manufacturer selection.
I spoke to an underwriter who admitted their system is wrong.

My previous company (through a broker) would't cover me when I was swapping to my Alpine. I went with Admiral after a couple of recommendations here and they were very reasonable. Also have a Fire Orange 22.

I am with Admiral, I managed to get my 21 year old son on as a named driver for £100 extra, very reasonable prices.

^^ similar to me, I’m with Admiral who were less that £200 for the year and only charged an extra £50 or so to add my 22 year old daughter.

Do you mind sharing some details? Your approximate age, location(ish) and annual declared mikage?

I’m early 60s, Sussex coast, and declared 5000 miles. They quoted around £350 for me/wife with a full no claims discount, and no accidents/claims.

Cheers everyone.

I wouldn’t have considered NFU but despite having to do the quote over the phone (they don’t have a web option), their quote was very reasonable and they don’t charge any interest when paying monthly.

All good to go for collection on Saturday now. It’s a 22 plate fire orange base model, with comfort pack, active sports exhaust, heated seats, wing badges and mirror pack. I was blown away how well it drove on the test drive so I’m pretty excited!

Thanks, I’ll go back to them then to see why my quote isn’t also around £200!

Great stuff, Tim is a brilliant chap to collect the car off. I live about a mile from the dealer so I'm always walking past. Was this the demonstrator ? If so I drove this on my test drive back in September and bought one on the same day. I'd convinced myself I was getting a blue one until I saw the orange in the sun. It was a fabulous car but at the time just outside my price range.

Couldn’t agree more on the Fire Orange. I was even accepting of the fact that mine would be one of the majority out there in Alpine Blue - but side by side (at Winchester) the Orange just said “pick me, pick me!”

@Jez O does yours have standard 17” wheels? If so I’d appreciate seeing a pic or two!

Yes it was their demonstrator. The orange does look great and it was the exact spec I would pick.

I'm also with Aviva and yes they incorrectly list the new Alpine as Alpina in error. All variants are there Pure, GT, S and special editions but as Alpina.
I tried to explain this to the agent when I swapped over my car recently. Gave up in the end and just went along with their error.
Ridiculously a big compnay like that can't get the name of the brand correct.

Just a bit of feedback regarding Admiral. I was insured with them when my Alpine was written off last year.

They paid out eventually but it took 3 months plus despite the 3rd party admitting liability straight away (hit from behind).

They're processes were a bit painful and it was a stressful few months even though it worked out well in the end. If I was insuring anything valuable again I might opt for a higher premium and a better policy.
