I realise it is a topic discussed previously (Fudgie 01) but I was wondering if anyone else has had water entering the boot.

Just noticed it today (never before) seems to be coming in on the passenger side only.
Carpet and sound proofing damp (not very wet). Condensation on boot lid from engine heat (I think).

Is there an easy fix or is it a trip to the dealer?

Any advice / suggestions welcome.

Check your taillight gaskets.

It’s a trip to dealer- there’s a new rear window seal available that I had fitted to my PE. I don’t know when they changed over -

Thanks, will do. I will do a hose test to see if I can make it leak.

Without wanting to seem too dim … how does water from around the widow enter the boot?
The engine cover seems dry or am I missing something?

Not a daft question but I’m afraid I don’t have the answer.
All I know is they replaced the window seal and that cured the leak.

Another one here who has had the rear window seal done - I didn't notice a leak, the seal just came loose and was picked up during a service. All done under warranty without issue.

Well seems problem solved.

It appears when the car went in for recent repairs the rubber washer that fits into the rear window on the left hand side had fallen out - allowing water to track in around the thumb screw.

Lucky the washer was still under the widow, so easy fix.

Thanks for suggestions.

Hi - having wet boot problem - recording this here more for shared interest rather than expecting a magic solution - though feel free to chip in. Will monitor and update as things change.

I just bought the car on Monday - still in love love

Drove it 5+ hours through some fairly heavy rain and puddles - boot was properly wet after that - nice warm water too smile
Removed carpet and underlay and dried it out in the house. Dried boot with microfibre cloth. Love the way the trapped water sloshes around in the bootlid itself laugh removed 2 x grommets to help with that.

I left the car on drive in some light rain for past two days - and there is a small amount of condensataion on the the underside of the bootlid.
  • The boot seal itself is wet on the bottom right corner, but not sure if that's where water is getting on where it drains to once it's in.
  • Boot floor is bone dry (bare metal so easy to check).
  • Water doesn't seem to be coming in through the rear window fastners - though I have tightened all those again to be sure.
  • Maybe just residual dampness from prior leakage, turning to condensation in the sunshine?
More as it happens ...

Take it to your dealer as there's known fixes and best to check all possibilities.
