I’m getting a Gallic Shrug from the manual!
Discussion
I picked up my Alpine last week I’ve been going through the manual, maybe it’s the translation, but it’s just so- “not my job mate”. For example
“ Avoid “sporty” driving until the vehicle mileage reaches approximately 1,864 miles (3,000 km).” What does that mean, just tell me the max revs and speed.
“ do not press the brake pedal too hard until the vehicle mileage reaches approximately 124 miles” How hard is too hard?
“It is forbidden to launch a standing start procedure during the running in period of your vehicle (risk of engine deterioration). Is that the 1000 km or the 3000km period?
“Fluids Types-
Oil; Refer to the maintenance document for your vehicle. Coolant; Refer to the maintenance document for your vehicle. Brake; Refer to the maintenance document for your vehicle.” No maintenance document is included.
“Fuel use 95 or 98 grade.” I don’t want choices just tell me what not to use!
Now my C Class Merc manual it was good. It came with many warnings and foriddens, but you understood exactly what to do and when. There are 3,672 pages plus a service booklet with the C Class. The Alpine has 242 pages and no service booklet.
Now the easiest manual to understand was my Lotus Elise. It only had 27 pages but fell apart very quickly.
Anyway, rant over for now, still to rant on the online video manual. Ahhhh
