Can someone please let me know how I get the windows to work when the engine isn’t running? & if you’re answer is “Turn the ignition on”, please explain how to do that. I press the stop/start button without my foot on the brake, & this gets the radio going, but the windows still don’t work.

& how do I adjust the daytime brightness of the dashboard display? I’ve come across it once, but each time I try to find it again, I can only access the night time brightness.

If I get out of the car with the engine running (stop/start disabled) & handbrake on (perhaps to quickly open a gate before driving through) it tells me to engage park. How would I do that?

I’m sure the answers are in the manual somewhere, but I’m very short on time at the moment.

500 miles so far, & I’m very happy with my new car. There are many things I’d have done differently if I’d been in charge of the design, but I cannot imagine being happier with any other car (maybe a T33 or Singer 911) . I’m not missing my recently sold Evora & 12C one bit.

I don't think you can open the window without switching the engine on, you can turn the ignition on by pressing the button and keeping your foot off the brake pedal.

If you want to put the hand brake on you just put your foot on the brake and pull up on the handbrake button in the central console and push down to remove it. If you want to park without the handbrake coming on pull the lever up as you switch off the engine.

As mentioned above you can’t move the windows unless the engine is on, or at least I haven’t found a way in 2.5 years of ownership!

In terms of the dash brightness, I’m not sure can alter without the lights being switched. You can alter the infotainment screen for brightness by going to the Home Screen and tapping the setting symbol and altering the brightness there.

Hope this helps.

on some cars if you press and hold the unlock button on the key fob all of the windows will wind down. same is true for closing them by press and hold lock button

This e- handbook may be easier for you, if not found already?

Park is engaged by pressing and holding the 'N' button. Whether it's worth engaging for opening a gate comes down to how annoying you find the bings (I don't bother generally) biggrin

Brilliant news, so glad you are. I'm one of us who traded up to an A110, so have nothing exotic to compare it to; it's great to hear how well it stands up against spicier wheels.

Windows - daft. Engine on only.

Tip - don't start the car with the door open when it's been raining. rolleyes

Thanks for all the replies. I think the windows thing must be a health & safety initiative designed to enable naughty children to play with all the buttons without suffering injury.

Looks like I'm going to have to work through that manual to find out about the dash board brightness. As I was moaning about the dash board displays on another thread, perhaps I should just say, the Alpine scores above the two cars I sold recently, with it's very discrete blue high beam dash board light. With many other cars, I put the lights on full beam & the dash board responds by lighting up a zillion lumen blue light to blind me & remind me I'm in danger of blinding oncoming traffic. A problem that's easily solved with a square of black electrician's tape, but even so, it's nice that the Alpine doesn't do this.
