I've always found the driver's footrest too far away, requiring a very straight leg. And I've been curious if there might be an easy way to space it out a bit.

However, the footrest itself is tucked behind the trim panel so it can only move aft if it also moves outboard.

So I scratched my head and had a rummage around the workshop. This was the result...

Footrest removed, exposing the body bracket.

My prototype spacer bracket attached. This moves the footrest about 25mm closer and 20mm outwards. 6mm rivnuts accept the original footrest bolts.

Aluminium footrest back in place, with some rubber edging to protect the trim panel and prevent rattles.

Feels more comfortable to me. I tried to make the angle adjustable but didn't account for the rivnuts getting in the way, so in the end it preserves the original angle.

A better (lighter) solution would be to use some aluminium box section. I may give that a go if I feel the need for some fine tuning.
