A110 Track Pads - What do you use?
Discussion
if you can work out the pad shape for the rear I'm all ears, the fronts are Pagid Shape No. 8023 which do come in RS29 and you can buy them here: https://www.k-tecracing.com/parts_intro.asp
However currently I'm thinking I will go Ferodo Uno or 1.11 as you can switch between something like ds2500 (for normal use) and the uno/1,11 (for track) without having to bed them in everytime, if you go from standard road pad to rs29 you will basically be having to bed pads in at every change, and running rs29 on the road is fine but noisy, they need heat, if you run them cold (like normal driving around) you will scrape disc clean over time and get brake squeal.
I believe some of the Life110 stuff is developed with EBC, I'm not sure if its all/some of the options but typically with EBC you are getting what you pay, its not bad, but there are better (which cost more)

DS2500 road, DSUno track is also one of the options I'm considering.
The other is to use Carbotech XP8 for the track and then put the standard pads in for road. I spoke with Carbotech earlier today and Ian suggested this wouldn't need lots of additional bedding in. I've had lots of XP8s over the years in MX5s and Elises and they are by far and away my favourite pad

yep, the rears are not yet as common and then having some stock rears with some very unstock fronts will create a rather interesting brake bias
edit: more braking on the front, means worse turn in basically, so ideally you want to keep brake pads with the same or atleast similar friction cfi/mu so that the manufacturer designed brake bias is utilised, I'm not 100% sure how this is effected by abs, anyone know? The thing with friction cfi is they are effected by heat, so you have some track pads in the front that work great on track at 300/400degC + etc, then you have some road pads in the rear that are screaming at 300/400degC +, maybe melting and loosing all their grip, in their intended operating range the cfi will be similar but the operating ranges are very different.

The options I'm considering are:
Life110 track pads (although not going to be in stock for the I need them)
Carbotech XP8 (best track pads I've ever used)
Pagid RSL29
Ferodo DSUno
Ferodo 1.11
I was/am considering having the track pads fitted only for trackdays and keeping road pads in the rest of the time as I really don't want to be driving a squealing pig through town all year. But talking with David yesterday he was suggesting that the A110 doesn't have this problem (from the fronts).
So the next question to you guys is, are any of you running track pads on the road and do you get any squealing?

Thanks for this, I think it nicely explains some rather unpleasant experiences I was having in the heavy braking zone at Goodwood.worldwidewebs said:

Yes and, unfortunately, yes. Previous owner fitted them so not 100% sure of the brand but suspect they're the Life110 set as much of the rest of the car is outfitted from there. This is a useless comment, but it's a shame that Carbon Lorraine (CL brakes) appear to offer pads for literally every Alpine ever made, except the new A110 - I've had v positive experiences with them on two other cars, having a nice strong progressive bite on the road and standing up well to hard use on track, with decent fluid.

If you like CL5s you'll LOVE Carbotech XP8 (and they don't fall apart like CLs do)samoht said:

They do… https://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=60...HokumPokum said:
Because they have front and rear track pads?
Went with what I know best but will have to see how much squeal I get with them on road. The Elises/MX5s were mainly track cars but I don't remember too much noise with them.I'll see if I can get rear pads sorted but I want to get an old set of pads first to use as a test-bed
Mr Worldwidewebs - how are you getting on with your carbotech xp8 - any issues road or track?
Am running CL RC5 in the front with standard rear pads at the mo - wondering if to chuck xp8 in the back if these are very good (would run one pad road and track and not change) or if it is important to run matched pads front and rear.
Also wondering if the lack of the alignment springs / flowers on aftermarket pads is a problem and if these ‘clonk’ in the caliper a lot on the road?
Sorry if this overlaps my other brakes post.
