Calling all those who have had their A110 remapped...

I'm looking to do the same but need a sympathetic insurer (ie. one that understands remaps) I can speak to first for a quote as the remap will affect the policy/premium. So I'd really welcome suggestions and contacts from those owners who have had their A110s remapped, please.

I've used "A plan" for my last couple of cars. I disclosed every modification; remaps, exhaust headers etc and so far only incurred about a 10% increase in the premium. Other specialist insurance brokers are out there, many sponsor specialist forums.

Hi there. My Premiere Edition is running the Life110 engine map, and a few other bits too. I declared everything and it it had negligible effect on my premium with Admiral.

I posted about this recently

Thanks dajw, I've now got a quote from Admiral and it looks like they'll be the ideal solution for me to go ahead and get the Life10 remap.

Did you find the new Life110 remap makes a significant difference and if so in what way other than just making the car faster

Cheers

I'm not sure I understand the question? It makes the car noticeably faster, but I also don't see any negative effects. What specifically are you concerned about?

I’ve had the Life110 map installed and to me the power delivery just seems better throughout the rev range. I rarely give it the full beans but even around town the engine feels creamy smooth now - very linear, no flat-spots.

In Sport mode it’s soon into the fat extra torque from 3000 rpm and feels very lively…!

Update: Went with A-Plan Specialist Vehicle's team at Thatcham after receiving a really competitive quote, and now have a policy covering my A110 and its various Life110 upgrades - paddles, geo, track rods, progressive springs, braided hoses, spacers, air and intake hoses, filter - that have been added to date.

The policy also covers my much older Beemer 3 series Touring which accommodates a full set of golf clubs and a trolley rather more easily than the A110...

As part of sorting out the details of the insurance policy, I also notified A-Plan's chaps about the forthcoming Life 110 remap at the end of June, and next week's installation of K-Tec's stainless steel race exhaust system. Very refreshing to speak with real people who really understand specialist cars like the A110, and owners who can't seem to help themselves when it comes to adding new performance bits and pieces...!

So thanks to the input of some other A110 owners, my Alpine's now insured properly and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what these next upgrades will do for the A110 - especially after reading some of the feedback on here and elsewhere of other owners' experiences with the Life110 remap.

Tally ho!

Not concerned about anything negative, I know Life110 products are good, just wondered if you think the remap is worth doing. The standard car isn't slow imo so is the remap worth the money ie. Did you drive it after the remap and notice a significant difference in overall performance and power delivery or not really.

I am still in two minds about whether to spend several hundred pounds to get it done. Cheers

I'll be very interested to hear all about this, please, once you've lived with it for a couple of weeks. Do you have the standard exhaust or Alpine sports exhaust at the moment? Maybe you could get a new thread going for this.

Back on topic: I have been with A-Plan Thatcham for years (even decades) & I've always been very happy with them (although I've never had to make a claim). A-Plan required a tracker for a brand new car, so I'm now with Admiral. Neither company seemed worried about a Life110 remap & a long list of other proposed mods I ran by them (these will add £30 max.) . I think the key is, the re-map adds just under 25% to the power figure; beyond this there would have been a bigger price hike.

We're fortunate to be able to modify our cars without being treated harshly. In some other countries this is very awkward.
