I'm thinking of giving my car an interim oil change as I approach 6 months (3k miles). Cannot find anything about oil spec in the handbook. Did some searching for Renaultsport Meganes instead...

Can anyone confirm if this is the correct oil?

Mine came with a can of that oil but 5W40 rather than 0W40.

Crap. Nobody has stock. I guess I'll see what Alpine Cambridge will charge me.

Was just wondering whats involved in doing your own oil change on the A110 regarding accessibility and the tools required do you need a four post lift or pit or can it be done off ramps, trolley jack etc ? Done many oil changes on front engined cars.

I will post some pictures of the process......I am lucky to have access to a car lift so a bit easier.....I think working off axel stands might be tricky....as you need to remove undertray

Just to confirm that Solihull service fit is also Castrol Edge 0W-40 - seems to be UK wide.

Jacking methods discussed in this thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I can only confirm that I had success using the process detailed by Liam22 (jack on rear jacking point, front stand under front jacking point, rear stand on rear wishbone to body joint), albeit only one side at a time. Judging by his images it seems very possible to raise both sides via this method. Once you have, the tray removal should be unhindered.

I believe that Castrol has been the recommended oil over Elf since Castrol started sponsoring the F1 team,

Maintenance detail sheet says 4.2 litres and then adds 'value given as an indication'

Are you doing yours yourself, Tony?

I was quoted £430 today by Manchester for a 1st service, which I think is excessive for an oil and filter change. Solihull were £424

A local place asked how much was required. Unfortunately I live city centre so can't do maintenance myself.

Manchester also told me the same price yesterday. I walked out rotate

How old is your car?

If you don't want to take it to Phoenix and you're happy to do it yourself, you're more than welcome to make use of my scissor lift

Did mine myself recently and noted something of interest ref the fill quantity. 4.2 litres appears to be spot on, but doesn’t seem so at first.

Filling from empty (incl filter), 4.2l takes the level to about 2/3 ~ 3/4 between the dipstick marks - so you think you ought to add more. However, after running the engine this settles bang on the top mark of the stick. Mine has stayed there since (for >3k miles fwiw).

It’s a sample of one etc, and not a behaviour I’ve seen on other engines, but my recommendation from this experience is not to fill more than 4.2l from empty, however tempting it might seem.
