A110 Battery specs

I believe it is an 027 size Stop Start battery
it's an EFB but I'd replace with an AGM


As I wait to see if there is a diy brake error reset I can do I took the battery out for a a drop test.
This was the result after being charged on an optimate for the past few days.



It says battery is good but needs recharging- my chargers are reporting battery full.

Does this look OK ? I was expecting better given it's kept on a trickle charger. Is this my problem causing the brake error?

Battery specs below - I hope they are of use to somebody as I couldn't find them anywhere else

Cranking Amps are below spec but I would be surprised if that's the cause of the problem, out of interest how easy was the car starting from cold ?
I know you should hope to get a few years from a new OEM battery but fitting a new one is never a bad thing if in doubt. (never too sure about the chequer plate btw but it served a purpose there)

Thought I'd drop a note regarding battery going flat if the A110 is not used regularly. Stories of the car having a dead battery after just a week or two of non-use was one of my concerns whilst I waited for my car to arrive (earlier this year).

My experience so far has been quite positive. I often didn't use the car for 3-4 weeks at a time - simply down to long working day commitments, covid restrictions, or lousy weather getting in the way. I don't use a trickle charger and the alarm system remains switched on. There has never been an issue in starting the car. Today I took her out for a spin for the first time in 6 weeks - and I was half expecting a problem to be honest. But she started first time with no fuss whatsoever!

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Did you replace the battery with an AGM battery? Any issues with it?
I think there is an issue with mine. It was replaced about a year ago under warranty, and I am finding the voltage drops very quickly when just sat. I wouldnt expect a drain from other devices in the car to reduce it this quickly (around 0.2V after a few hours).
I am out of warranty now, so to take it to Alpine to investigate will cost me £150... rather sort this out myself if I could

No, I kept the original battery as the fault was unrelated.
Just dont try some fancy lithium battery as there is/was a thread on RAOC saying the charging circuit won't work properly on a lithium battery.

Thanks, I had the battery tested by a battery company and they said it was on its last legs. I purchased a new battery but he didn’t want to fit it as he couldn’t find the obd port to back up the car settings/ecu. Did you use any specific method to remove and refit the battery? I assume there is no coding required for a new battery

The car has to be parked in an east-west direction before the battery removal in order to protect the polarity of the battery…

No, on a serious note, no special procedure other than the usual disconnect the negative post first.

I found I had to remove the front boot liner in order to get to the battery. I also left a door open to avoid any issues if I closed the bonnet by mistake.

Thanks, will give it a go this week. I think I will end up removing the frunk liner to remove and replace it

You definitely will need to remove it. Perhaps consider fitting a trickle charge socket at the same time

I’ve finally taken the plunge and bought a new battery. Got nearly 5 years out of the old one but I normally get longer.

Bought a Bosch 027 AGM from Tayna with a 5 year warranty

It fits perfectly.

I can notice the extra power available in the electrical system - the hifi sounds more detailed with a more expansive soundstage and the engine really sings now ithe ECU is not being held back by the underperforming FIAMM option. (Oops sorry- meant to post in hifi thread)

Did the battery give up eventually or did you just decide to change it ?
I put mine on charge yesterday as i had been shunting it in and out of the garage and the doors had been open for a while so i thought it would be a good idea to put some charge into it. When i checked the Ctek charger today it had stopped at stage 5 and the warning light was on, this suggests its not holding charge properly (according to the manual)
my car is a 2019PE and is used a little less lately but still has 32k on the clock. i have had absolutely no issues from the battery but also haven't had the charger on the Alpine many times before.
Maybe the charger is alerting me to a failing battery or its just not happy, anyone had similar issues ? I use the charger (MXS 5.0) regularly on another vehicle and it usually goes through its cycle and sits at stage 7 with the green LED on.

I had to use my jump pack twice to start the car when I’d not left it on charge for a few days so took that as an indication that it was on its last legs. I don’t think the duff alternator last year helped at all.
