Just a quick question for anyone with the knowledge of the new A110. My dad is planning to take his new Alpine over to France for a short break soon and would like to avoid the use of headlight reflector stickers if possible. Is there a way to change the headlights from a RHD set up to LHD manually as you can with some cars?

Thanks!

i doubt there are many owners on here (could be wrong), is it worth getting the answer straight from alpine themselves https://twitter.com/alpine_cars

If it has projectors, which I'm fairly sure it will, It's worth checking the owners manual - In my case, it simple listed an exemption to the requirement citing some dover regulation or another.
How exactly the kickups aren't blinding oncoming traffic, I don't know, however, it gives some munition against any issues you may encounter:- To account for the kickups, I just gave an extra bit of dip with the manual adjuster when it was appropriate.

Why not use the stickers?

Barely noticeable and haven't left a mark.

He's asked the supplying dealer and they didn't know (and the technicians hadn't been trained for it).

Just heard horror stories of them delaminating headlights and being generally ineffective. Great car by the way!

Yeah I'll take a look if I can find where he's put the manual later. Very helpful though thanks!

Except they appear to have turned an A110 into a VX220...Nice car by the way.

Can't comment on the effectiveness of them as I didn't use it at night. Seemed alright in the Swiss tunnels and I never got flashed by oncoming cars.

Mind you, VX220 lights are as useful as a chocolate tea pot to begin with.

Just an excuse to post a pic biggrin

Saw my first A110 next to me at a fuel station on that trip, looks awesome on the road surrounded by normal cars given I didn't think much of what I'd seen of it online.

Haha yes I do know that one as I had one for a little while, had worse too though! Fun car for that sort of trip I would imagine? (the VX is a car you should never need an excuse to post a pic of, they're great!).

Do modern headlights even have the beam patterns on the glass these days? I thought it was all done with a flick of an adjuster on the back of the light itself?

Very good, a little to close for comfort hearing about the Genoa bridge 24 hours after we crossed it, but the Alps (that pic is in the French Alps) were sensational. Still awaiting speeding tickets from getting flashed twice in 10 minutes in German roadworks of all places.

Hope your old man has a good trip thumbup

I know my car does (but is a pain to get to) but no idea on the Alpine, you'd hope so though!

I'd imagine that brought up some not very nice cars! If you now of any good roads around Nice/Monaco then please feel free to drop me a message. And please feel free to share more photos for us to enjoy!

We had two goals for the trip, mine was to tick off some good driving roads and the girlfriends' was as many countries as possible.

We managed 11 countries (including the UK) and 5 roads from the link below in 16 days.

The pic above was the morning after staying in Nice. All 3 of the French routes are doable from Nice and wish we'd taken more time in this area to do more than one.

https://www.ultimatedrives.net/top-10-roads/

Sadly for us something happened in Monaco in between us arriving and leaving so the centre was gridlocked with Police checking the number plate of every car exiting the Country so didn't get to drive the circuit, only the tunnel and harbour on the way in. It did force us to get creative with our route to Nice from Monaco as it was too busy to get back up the hill so we took the slow route along the coastal road which was nice.

I've scoured the handbook and there's nothing about it in there. I guess they assume after Brexit we won't be going to that Europe any more.

biggrin
