Yes - heading back to UK though Pyrenees then France. Which roads should be avoided in the Picos? We are much further west (Galicia) so tend to mess around in the smaller roads out here - no traffic and generally well paved. Have been to the Picos but last time was in a VW van so slightly different driving experience.

Right now, the N621 from Panes to La Hermida has massive roadworks with a convoy system and long delays. AS114 is shut from Mildon to Trescares until the end of the month, although the diverseion on the AS-345 is fanstastic so long as you get a clear run - overtaking opportunities are short and tight.

Didn't have time to get down to the LE-2711 which looks promising on the map. We were staying up at the north end so couldn't face heading down to Fuente De to try that road (due to the roadworks mentioned above)

Found some good ones today on the run across to San Sebastian. CA-631 northwest of Espinosa de los Monteros was spectacular, although has a rather ludicrous 50kph limit. The Eastern side unfortunately is narrower so again will depend on your luck with traffic.

Thank you - I think you just saved me from a world of traffic hell. We aren't leaving here until Thursday so any other advice much appreciated.

I have put this in the road trip thread but will repeat it here as I know one or two were reading - but will revert to the road trip thread after this post...

Just back from Galicia, Picos and Pyrenees - then A75 through France and home.

Galicia and Picos were empty so lots of fun to be had if you avoid the main routes - AS345 and AS 260 in particular.

As for the Pyrenees - wow. I took my poor son who put up with endless mountain roads (with little to no traffic) for 2 days. Anyone who does this route simply get on the N260 and stay on it as much as possible to Ripoll (and make sure you do the NS 260 detour as well).

Simply epic and what this fantastic little car was designed for. The bits from Vielha to Baqueira and up and over the top to Sort stunning - Sort to Urtx just as ..and the road from Urtx to Ripoll is one of the best. The speed limit is 60kmh on this bit but it is not an issue. Otherwise speed limits 90 Kmh which is also fine. Next year I am going back and doing it all the other way.

A75 through France motorway but very pretty and direct...we had run out of time.

One or two asked about this route - happy to give more detail. And thanks to those who recommended some of the above roads.

Car was faultless - epic on the mountain roads, comfortable on the motorways and fine for pootling around town in "Normal" mode when required. I know they have their faults but they are simply brilliant little cars.
