Similarly if I'm in manual and forget to change down enough for a junction then it will change down for me instead of stalling as I've left it in 3rd!
Hi Derek, do you find in this instance that the overriding auto change from 3 to 2 is quite a jerky one? It really throws the car for me.
I have written about it before thinking it was a general issue with my box, but have since worked out that it's behavior that happens only in sport / manual in the situation you describe. If the box is in sport / auto, it's all very smooth. Perhaps most illogically it doesn't happen in track / manual when it takes over coming to a junction - go figure..

Incidentally back to the OP, after working out the above - I have started using sport / auto a lot more and it gets it right (and quickly) about 95% of the time for me. Then you can always grab on the paddles if you want to take over. I agree it reverts back to auto a little quickly though - perhaps something that could be coded?
I hadn't noticed the forced changes being any more jerky than normal ones - I'll look out for it next time it happens!
Tonight I drove home in normal/manual, not trying at all hard, just cruising and I decided to take a tightish bend in 4th but it disagreed and chose 3rd instead, I think I was still at 1500 revs in 4th so not sure why it did that.
Also on my way home there's a series of sweeping bends on an A road, in normal/auto it wants to stay in 7th at 60 mph, I use the paddles to select 5th or 6th as it pulls through the corners better but, as others have said, it seems to revert back to auto too quickly and if I'm not careful it ends up floating around in 7th again.
If I was ever in a situation where I was really in a hurry I think I would just use sport/auto as it does a better job than me in selecting gears and I can just concentrate on steering!
It's all an enjoyable learning curve!

I had a test drive today of the A110R today. Firstly the gearbox is the same as the other models. In Sport mode and manual the gearbox still changes when itself when you red line. I have owned Porsche, Ferrari and McLarens and they do not do this in manual mode. In track mode it will not change gear itself.

Bouncing of the limiter in a test drive, ffs!

Remind me never to buy a demo car...

Totally agree with the point of your first post, thing is I can’t say I ever really notice its occurrence. Based 100% on ‘fast road’ experience though not track use. I use manual 100% of the time when driving for fun, usually sport, occasionally track… I find confidence in the steering way better in the latter two modes, this wasn’t something I noticed on test driving !!

Not saying you should accept something you don’t like btw, just curious how often it would occur other than trying to prompt it ?
