Hi there, I am about to purchase a 1.0 litre japanese import Toyota Vitz. On weekdays I have a relatively short commute to work which is about 4km(2.5miles)each way and possibly other errands within a small town which will probably get me to 50km(31miles)a week. Maybe once or twice month I might head down to my home town via a motorway and it’s going to be about 170km(105miles) one way on about 120km/hr roads. I just wanted to ask the more experienced drivers, will this be too much stress on the small engine? Would it be better to get a bigger car in terms of engine size or am I exaggerating?

thanks

Should be plenty of Yaris cars in UK, any particular reason to import one?

For motorway work, the 1.3 petrol or diesel probably better. The 1.0 Ltr will do it, but for easier cruising & especially overtaking, the larger engines will be better, & probably not much on different on fuel as revs will probably be lower IMO.

We tow a caravan with out 1.4 diesel - about 150 miles last time out, with no worries.

This! I've owned both of the engines and both can do motorway fine, but the 1.3 has that extra bit of poke.

Oh! I put 18" alloys which I had spare on both and they gripped like hell and were great fun in the twisties

If it's the 3 cylinder 1 litre engine found in the Aygo, my one did Aberdeen to Silverstone (about 700 km) and back 2 days later and took it in it's stride.

All those motorway miles won't stress the car, but they might stress you smile As suggested above, the 1.3 is more suitable (or the later 1.5, but I would say that...).
