Toyota Service Plan - or Not?
Discussion
I bought a new Toyota Corolla in Sept. 2021. (No, I am sorry, it's not very PH, is it?)
Toying with the idea of a Toyota Sevice Plan for 2 (3?) years. The cost for 2 years is 5 monthly payments at £73 and then 12 months at £13.75. I dunno, is it worth buying, or should I just pay the bill when I have the service done? I suppose it's a hedge against inflation. First world problems and all that.

Yup, it’s not the greatest deal in the world but it’s worth it on the balance. It basically protects you from price increases, though thanks to a half decent service advisor at our local dealer I got a free MOT chucked in. Which actually turned into two free MOTs, because when it went it for its service in December they put it through an MOT. But it wasn’t due for an MOT until April, so they chucked another free one onto the plan.
I should say the car in question is our Prius (I know), bought new in 2018 and a car we will just keep as long as possible. I’ve also got a Corolla which I’ve had for 12 years and has now done 201k and the Prius will (eventually) replace that.
The chip shortage has meant that we’re keeping the Corolla a bit longer, something I must say I’m not at all unhappy about. If I could find a way I’d never get rid of it, just stick it in a barn and hide it from my wife. It’s nothing special, but it’s stupidly dependable.
I pretty much anticipate the Prius going on even longer, especially with Toyota Relax meaning it could be under warranty for 10 years.
