82 Crown Super Saloon
Discussion
Well fellas, it’s a GS110 model, as the 2.0 EFI engine.
I actually went to the USS Tokyo auction with my agent and my bicycle, and spent the day checking out all the vehicles.
The attraction to me was to own a ‘cruising’ car, wanted that classic American styling, but with Japanese reliability and fuel efficiency. To get something from the UK, I guess I would have had to go back to the early 70’s, with all the limitations involved.
This car I spotted had a good look around and liked it’s honest condition. It was originally white and there are tell tell signs starting to appear.
I got the fuel tank refurbished before I shipped it, and had a little work for an mot here, I even got a rear fog light installed behind one of the red reflectors at back.
The interior is almost immaculate, power windows, central locking, power mirrors, dual zone air conditioning, auto seek fm/am radio etc. all of it still working.
Pleasantly it’s perfectly able to keep up with normal everyday traffic and the brakes are amazing. It’s such a pleasure to drive. I am going to get the chassis rust proofed in the next few weeks, and will probably re-chrome the grill and bumpers. May just keep the wheels as they are.
Only thing missing is a bench front seat and column change, which some crowns of this period do have.
All in all I couldn’t be happier, I feel a million dollars driving around in it.
