Just wondered if any of you learned people had any informed views on whether the arrival here of the GR86 will significantly push used GT86 and Supra prices down? I ask because whilst I understand that currently second hand cars are (temporarily) more expensive for a variety of reasons, the used prices of GT86’s seem high relative to what is supposed to be the anticipated/suggested price point for new GR86’s.
They also seem high relative to 1 or two year old Supra’s. Is it only me who thinks that these 3 Toyota sports cars will seemingly be sitting relatively pretty close to each other in terms of the market share, market, and price? Or are there things my unsophisticated thinking is missing here? I’m sure there must be others like me who have many times ‘nearly’ bought a GT86 but have been put off by its shortcomings, most of which seem to have been addressed with the new GR86. Equally there must be others also like me who love the Supra but can’t afford it. Seems like the GR will occupy that middle ground (I guess?) for a lot of us; if so what then for the other two?

Dealers seem to asking way to much for the last of the GT86s & if not sold soon , I guess will need to fall back to mid 20s as the new GR86 will be in demand at £30,000 ish.

The Supra is different type of car really a BMW coupe auto with a Toyota badge , quite a special car in the 3.0 form . I think the 2.0 is bit of a waste of time really . I dont think a GR 86 customer would be looking a Supra really unless they need an auto.

I'm an 86 owner and thinking like any successor the GR will reduce GT values. The new car does sound a great prospect to upgrade to if it improves on the GTs weak link. A few other big factors though will be the launch price of the GR, if its 35k makes newer GTs at 20k to 25k almost acceptable. Then there's covid and limited supply with the chip shortages and other stuff like interest rates. If they drip fee into the market all cars could remain relatively high and for a reasonable period of time

Competitors are interesting especially from Toyota although I can squeeze a kid in the back of the GT with luggage for a family week away and that's a no go in the supra plus its auto so of no interest to me. Manual M2 is very tempting. GR Yaris sounds like a riot but I'd have a Type-R as something more practical but damn their values seem rock solid
