Looking for a where to go for groups/info on JZ Toyotas
Discussion
I'm working on a JZX110 at the moment as a bit of a project. I've gotten to the point where I'm after some parts and i've got no idea who the go-to suppliers might be or if there are any UK groups that I might be able to post requests to.
I've been loitering around Subarus long enough that I know where to go for supplies and info, but I'm pretty fresh when it comes to these Toyotas! After some reccomendations of friendly and useful places.
In the first case - I'm after the thrust release bearing retainer that sits on the front of an R154.

Honestly and seriously, as an import Toyota veteran, try Toyota in the first instance. Parts are generally a lot cheaper than you fear.
Secondly ebay, the R154 was used in many different cars/trucks/vans so a search there will no doubt get results.
Theres a few facebook groups but theyre normally full of drifters who want to know the cheapest place to get a used oil filter lol

Go directly to Toyota... I have no issues at all getting parts for my 20 year old imported Toyota bB.... pretty much everything can be delivered straight to the parts desk from Japan in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for the replies. I got a Toyota part code the other day for it (and then found out how many other manufactures use the R154 box under another name! - although they've got different clutch arrangements) but I'd gotten it into my head it was one of the bits dealers didn't have any more.
I'll definitely give it a go - got a local place I might try to go through rather than my nearest dealer as they struggle to get the right bits for a UK Yaris :|

Too right! I've been trying to work on wheel fitment and suspension geometry and results are flooded with words like 'poke' and 10.5" rims with 215 section tyres. I have found some Ozzies that are pretty helpful - I think they're more common an import over there.designforlife said:

I find that baffling, and also common, my local Toyota dealer (Lincoln) have been nothing but excellent, helped me with my Soarers, Crowns, Sprinters, Aristo's etc, always came through tooI'll definitely give it a go - got a local place I might try to go through rather than my nearest dealer as they struggle to get the right bits for a UK Yaris :

That said I always, always go armed with the part numbers in advance.
Yup - I just ordered it stright off of that site from their Osaka location. Figured fishing about a bunch of suppliers trying to get better prices would cost me far more in time than just making a list there and hitting 'buy' on it. They've beaten some UK supplied parts here.
I did try to phone the dealers to see if they were shipping parts. Just got voicemessage.
I actually need a few washers/seals to sort some jobs on our UK Yaris too. Tried Toyota UK, who initially said parts supply was only for booked jobs on done on key worker vehicles. I mentioned I was on the list and they pretty much started a round of applause and badgering me for details
Not essential yet - still got a Subaru for getting around. I really just want a few bits that could go in an envelope and assumed the parts people would be able to sort it.

It was completely stright forward. Usually, when I'm trying to buy older OEM parts from a website I pay on credit card and brance myself for an e-mail 3 weeks later saying "yeah, sorry, we never really had this". This lot appear stright up with stock, delivery time etc.
Got hit with VAT / handling charge, but I'd already factored that in.
