Been having a large dose of Lexus V8 fever recently...

I remember reading the reviews when the RC-F first came out c2015 and the reception from the motoring press wasn't great back then and rather unfair. However, sifting through the comments on here when PH twin-tested the M4 against the RC-F and the vast majority of comments from posters were in favour of the Lexus over the BMW.

But it seems this hasn't materialised to the real-world - I can count on one hand the number of RC coupes i've seen on UK roads this year, yet need more than two hands for the number of M4s spotted this month alone... why is that?

A scan of the Lexus classifieds show the RC-F to be holding its value very firm and comparable to the M4. Aside from the gearboxes in Lexus cars, there's not much to dislike? We know about their build quality/engineering, their design is marmite granted (although I think they're coming-of-age, particularly the LC500 coupe), great sounding engines, interiors are superb, the Lexus dealers treat you like a human being....

The more I read about Lexus, the more I like them as a brand and their cars. It's a (naturally-aspirated) box I'm going to tick in the future

I've had mine for about 10 months now, usually around this time I looking to replace it with my next car. So far I haven't bothered because as one reviewer (Chris Harris) said that for a road car it grows on you and he was correct.
I am a serial car changer even my AMG's only lasted just over a year before I wanted to sell them on and get something different.
Let's be clear it's not a track day car as it's a bit heavy but it is an excellent road car. I drive mine in manual mode all of the time and really enjoy the autobox.
Having recently sold my track prepped VX220 turbo I am of the opinion if you want to do track days buy a trackday car, you can get track cover insurance for a lot less than getting a special days cover for your road car.
Mine is the later car with Adaptive Variable Suspension and it can be adjusted to give you a very comfortable long distance cruiser, then at the press of a few buttons it can be very entertaining on a twisty A road.
Having owned a few rather expensive cars the overall running costs of the RCF are in relative terms as cheap as chips.
I'm thinking of keeping mine until the new Corvette C8 comes over in 2021
I've put some Vossen wheels on mine as I didn't like the standard wheels much.

great read, Birma. I think Lexus F cars don't get the credit they deserve

I'm new to RCF. Had mine for just over a week. It is a car that grows on you.

Coming out of an F type R. I miss the super charger but the RCF make up for it in other ways. I feel happier about taking a long journey. The seats are very comfortable. Its screwed together well and feels quality.

Still learning.

Still learning.

Great looking car. I'm considering making the leap over to an RC-F in a few months from an F80 M3 Comp. Everything I've read about them so far says they've got heaps of character and are a superb fast road car.

I think the reason you see more M4's is simply because people always lust after the M badge rather than the L badge.

The RC's are great looking cars though

Have an extended test drive before buying.

I only kept mine for a few months, I just expected more from a 5.0cc V8

No low down grunt, felt like I was always waiting for the gearbox to sort it's self out. If it had been better in these respects I'd have kept it a long time as I loved pretty much everything else about the car.

Nice noise on cold start, but then pretty quiet after that, so check out Quicksilver exhausts if you do get one.

The Lexus warranty can be extended for £500 a year and includes breakdown cover for the whole family, any car.

Same here. Ours was gone in short order and it isn't missed. I thought the IS-F we had before it was a better drive, and I'd have another.

As the two posters above have stated take it for an extended test drive. Remember the USP for these cars apart from superb quality engineering and cheap ownership is the N/A engine.
At the lower end of the rev range it is like all N/A cars it needs and likes to be revved. The fact that mine is in 6th gear a couple of hundreds metres down the road means that in Auto it does feel a bit sluggish/relaxing to drive.
Most owners I know keep the cars in the manual setting this completely transforms the car and along with an aftermarket exhaust makes it such a nice car to drive and own.
