Hilux ladder rack/guard

Hello. Could anyone help me I'm looking at buying a 2013 hilux, I want to buy a canopy for it but everytime I enquire to retailers selling them they say the ladder rack/guard needs removing. I've looked all over the internet but can't find anyone that's done it. Just wondering if anyone of you lovely people have done it and if so what's the best way to remove it?
