High number of Toyota Estimas in Prestwich
Discussion
Often wondered the same driving around certain areas of north and west London. Hundreds of these Toyotas and similar, Lexuses (Lexii?), Mazda people carriers, Honda people carriers etc.
At least 7 in this pic if you spin the cameras around

Wow, that's utterly bonkers! If I'd woken from a coma on that street, I'd start wondering what year it was! But a quick google revealed this:

Reliable, cheap, big families. Not hard to answer really. What else is there?
I would add that of all the models like this you can import from Japan these are cheaper than a Vellfire/Alphard as cheap as all the Nissan / Mazda variants, and with the ultimate benefit of being a car you can actually get parts for due to the fact the Previa was sold here Jewish ladies normally do a rotor where they collect their own children and friends kids one day and the favour gets replicated on another day so you don’t have to do the school run every day, for this you need and eight seater car . The Toyota is reliable and robust if you don’t know about cars and people in the community recommend this then that’s what you buy. It’s also reasonably priced.

The answer is as above, cheap, reliable and lots of seats. Not convinced by the 'don't buy German' bit though, more that I can't think of any cheap, large 7+ seaters from there?
Mercedes R series, V series. VW Sharan.... Not cheap but not expensive after a few years of depreciation. Not as cheap as a pre-loved MPV from Japan though..... Or as reliable.Normodog said:

It's ironic if this community won't buy a German car for obvious reasons but instead happily buy one from the country that was Germany's biggest ally during the period in question.
Maybe a Chrysler Grand Voyager would be more appropriate.Conversely, on meeting nights at Quaker halls the car park is rammed full of what I'd call sensible and reliable vehicles, always in a monochrome or conservative colour, and never more than a few years old. Volvo XC90s, VW Passats, Golfs, Touaregs, Caddys, Skodas of various descriptions, Ford Galaxy, S-Max, LR Discoverys etc.
However, there's a Quaker family living opposite us (with a Skoda Superb and VW Golf) and they have some kind of Caterham and pristine-looking VW Polo Breadvan in their garage.

So basically the standard complement of any supermarket car park.Koyaanisqatsi said:

There's money in them Oats!Yes they are very popular in this area. I work for a recovery company and we're always out to these surprisingly not that bad to work on. Always seem to be kept in immaculate condition mechanically maybe not cosmetically.
And contrary to popular belief they are as honest as the day is long and tip very generously.
There is no hidden agenda no trying to scam hire cars and it's always a genuine breakdown with full disclosure when you arrive and talk to them
