Thanks to Toyota Darlington (ask for Kieron), I had the GR for an extended test drive over the weekend.
Overall it's been a satisfying demo and it looks great parked outside of the house. My £1k reservation deposit has been placed...
So are you in the Darlington area too? I think Stoneacre have supplied three/four 86's including mine, but I've yet to see another on the road.Overall it's been a satisfying demo and it looks great parked outside of the house. My £1k reservation deposit has been placed...
I managed to get a decent drive today in a demo GR86, on twisty back roads.
I love the balance, involvement, even the engine is a massive improvement on the GT86. But the rev hang is dire. Yes it's less of an issue as you get more familiar, but it's so out of place on such a driver focused car. Touchy throttle response doesn't help either. I guess it's supposed to make it feel quicker / more responsive. Hmm.

I cancelled my order, so there will be a met black manual available.
I certainly won't rule out picking one up in a few years and remap it to setup the throttle / rev hang as I wish.
Looks like it is a common complaint, plenty of threads like this: https://www.gr86.org/threads/throttle-mapping.1489... As is mentioned on that thread, not something that I found with the GT86.
Also plenty of threads re: rev hang.

The demo car must have really put you off then?! Got me worried now!I certainly won't rule out picking one up in a few years and remap it to setup the throttle / rev hang as I wish.
Mine has just landed too - hopefully I’ll be able to pop down for a visit (on an invite from the GR specialist!) tomorrow.
I’m currently awaiting a call back from Toyota Financial Services, as I think I’m going to swap from PCP to a straight loan, if possible. Trying to get hold of them is a nightmare - 50 minutes on hold earlier and then the line went dead when I was first in the queue, then subsequently requested a call back which still hasn’t come.

A bit worrying as I ordered my Ice Silver manual model on June 15th and according to the MyT app mine has left the factory but is not yet even in transit - time for a follow up I think!
25th June for me and still showing as processing...Edited by iansp on Thursday 3rd August 16:44

My ice silver '86 has "arrived at your dealer", so not long to wait now. Is anyone based in the south east able to recommend someone to apply PPF?
www.cambridgeconcours.com (Near Stansted airport rather than Cambridge itself.)Be nice if they could do your first as a practice for mine

So my car is at the dealer. I have paid for it. Dealer wants me to collect on Tuesday (I'd like that too!), Toyota Online say that's too soon for them to do whatever they need to do their end. Dealer then has some 'event' that means after Tuesday they can't hand over cars until the 15th onwards. I'm not that bothered about the number plate, but for the sake of two weeks I'd probably just wait until September for a '73' plate. I also don't really want it hanging around their compound, waiting to get reversed into by an old lady in a Yaris. They also say I can't take it and keep it in my garage until September 1st. Why?!

Is there any hope of getting on the current batch of orders?
I well and truly missed the boat on this one.
GR86 ordered and according to the app, it's en-route to the dealership I well and truly missed the boat on this one.
I have to say that this thread encouraged me to sign up to the 'send me info list' which eventually ended up in a vehicle becoming available.
I've a few things to organise with my current leased vehicle but I'm hopeful that I'll be driving a shiny grey GR86 in September.
