Yep, I spoke to the online team about delaying my order for the new plate and they said to talk to the dealer.
The dealer in North London just had several new cars stolen from their lot and not for the first time this year. So I imagine for this reason alone, they will want customer cars collected asap. Fortunately for me, my order is expected mid sept. If I continue and go through with it, that is.

Yes I have ordered a black one which Toyota said left the factory on the 28th June, when I spoke to the online team last week it was showing up as end of August delivery. To be honest the lady was very polite but did not know which boat it was being shipped on or if that date was to Derby or my chosen dealer . I did make the request that I would hope it to be a September registered car .

likely the chosen dealer. It wouldn't take two month on the sea normally. I expect our cars should land soon and then get PDI'ed in a centralised place, gets delivered to the dealer who will contact you to pick up.Just as an aside to the ordering / demoing / collection posts, I thought I'd mention that changing the exhaust and air filter element to something a little more 'sporty' makes a good car a little more entertaining (for me at least). Turned off the artificial sound generator at the same time. Cobra Sport exhausts are made in Sheffield too !

I think I will leave the exhaust standard but go for manifolds and remap. Should see the same result noise wise. Do you know if they will develop any equal length manifolds as most of the ones available are for the GT86 and Australia seem the only place at the moment doing serious manifolds for the FA24. https://youtu.be/bIrr8pMrweg

Had a much longer drive in my local dealer’s demo today. The car gets better and better the more you drive it - it takes time to tune into how it wants to be driven, master the slightly snatchy clutch and really get under the skin of it.
Much as I complained of the dealership not returning calls or emails, in person the GR specialist is very helpful, agreeing to register the car in September and also was receptive to my concerns about how it will be stored. All in all, a positive experience.
I’ve even been a sad act and bought a “GR” plate for it…

Thanks to Toyota Darlington (ask for Kieron), I had the GR for an extended test drive over the weekend.
My last RWD car was an NC MX-5 almost 10yrs ago followed by a series of hot hatches so the GR certainly unlocked some memories - mainly the contortion to get into it!
I love the mechanical feel from the engine start up, to wiggling the gear stick and weirdly the handbrake. It feels like a proper car.
What I found surprising was the it constantly feels warm in the cabin, even with the super effective A/C on full blast, I'm guessing minimal insulation.
I'm most interested in the steering and I'm still not entirely how I feel about it, it's very direct and has good weight but it still feels a little lifeless - I'm currently in an RS Megane 280 with it's mechanical LSD so perhaps it's just about adjusting to it. I'm not sure I would describe it as having understeer but I don't think the rack is as quick as the Megane, this resulted in being a little short of some of my steering inputs.
It's very, very easy to place on the road and makes darting between cats eyes a cinch, something that is often a struggle in modern FWD cars.
Exhaust noise is completely lacking and I do miss the pops and bangs of the Megane when pressing on but I do like the mechanical noise of the engine.
Overall it's been a satisfying demo and it looks great parked outside of the house. My £1k reservation deposit has been placed...

I have ordered a Magnetite Grey GR86 as I like grey cars. If that makes me a bit boring so be it!
Not so keen on the black wheels in combination with the grey though so will get them refinished in silver or gun metal once I have kerbed them
Edited for predictive anomalies!
