It sounds like you have done all the sensible jobs to keep it nice and original and just improve it. I have just bought this and am over the moon with it. It needs a few little bits to tidy up, like the engine bay (cam covers) speakers, and I wouldn't mind fitting a CD player as well. Did you document any of your jobs on one of the MR2 forums by chance?

Did you buy this from a guy in Eastbourne by any chance??

Hi, no, I didn't go on the forums. I used a guy called Tony Froude in Herts for exchange cam covers, mats, bolts, factory underbonnet decals, I spent about£400 at his place. I think the company name is T and N, they specialise in Mk1s. I got the CD player off ebay for not much money. Oddly it wouldn't work on the bench, I fitted it anyway, and it works fine in the car, so maybe it's sensitive to the orientation when playing.

Yours looks like it's in great nick.

Here's one of the engine bay in mine, forgot I had it!

Thanks for those tips, I will see if I can search him out as I am not too far from Herts. I will give you a shout if I get stuck doing any of the jobs :-) I need to get that Jimi bracket, it really tidies things up.

My engine bay isn't quite as nice as yours, but will be soon. A few shots of mine and under the front "bonnet" too where it is super clean:

Second post here. wink - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

It's been a long time since I last saw Jinxy.

A couple of pics from the wayback machine. biggrin.

Those mk1’s look really good.
My mk2 is currently getting a new cambelt and water pump.
And I think I’ve fixed the leaky tbar with Clingfilm and silicone sealant.

Btw, I notice that Heaveho's car has a custom Jimi™ Throttle Bracket.
Gets rid of that ugly lump of metal obscuring the intake cam cover. smile

I met up with Jimi on my way back from the Highlands in September 2016.
Hard to believe his car was nearly 30 years old. (It is now).
Looked like it had just rolled out of the dealer's showroom.

Yeah, that is clean. The under bonnet area had stayed in nice nick on mine, it's had a bit of a scrub, and the spare refurbished, but it wasn't bad when I got it.

That looks lovely as well.

Had a great ride out today to pick up my son from school. A bunch of teenage lads spotted us as we went past and one said "that car is cool" :-)
