Having driven the car I have no doubt it is very capable. But suggestions that it can embarass more expensive machinery (of similar sporting intent) in the dry (at least) seem optimistic. The best hot hatches (like the Type R) seem to have the legs of it even on short tracks and (imo) would have a significant advantage on a power-favouring circuit like the Ring. I very much doubt that it is quicker than round corners than hot hatches on similar rubber let alone (more expensive) mid engined cars like a Cayman (let alone a 911 on Cup 2s)
In the wet it will doubtless close the gap somewhat, but on a fast circuit like the 'Ring I think it would have to be very wet before its traction advantage would be decisive - at least not compared with someone who can really drive.

Down a winter British B road then yes it likely is more capable than more expensive stuff but not on a long track in the dry.
These Youtubers with their drag races and track time comparisons are missing the point. Stick a GT3 or Civic R down a rally stage and see how it gets on. Now that's a vid i would like and subscribe.

You can't tell me i am wrong.... its definitely quicker in Flare Red!!
Obviously i have to wait until June for this to be proved but i am sure i am right!!
I’m fortunate to have driven all the colours, and I can confirm that the Black ones are the quickest Obviously i have to wait until June for this to be proved but i am sure i am right!!

My problem was i wanted a black but having had a black Mini many moons ago, keeping it even vaguely clean was a nightmare!
I am also rubbish at cleaning cars and even when i had washed it did not look clean.... and same with a white car, so really was no choice but to go for red!
And its fastest![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

No, not all of them, all of the time. Some of them, some of the time.
I guess over decades it can add up. I remember when i first had a job, I loved buying magazines, dam the internet.I imagine it happens rarely, though I think it is important to always be wary of hype or equally be wary of a review that bases opinions on reputations or tired cliches. For example, this Peugeot has great damping because all Peugeot cars have great damping, all BMWs handle well, all Toyotas are reliable.
It occasionally seems that you get an honest review of a car when the successor model is being reviewed.

I have a 5 series BMW, my first BMW, and it's a very good car, but it does have it's faults as all cars do.
My biggest disappointment was my only Porsche experience, a 981 Boxster Black Edition just didn't do it for me, the journalists rave about Porsche and I just didn't enjoy anything about the ownership experience, including the car, the dealers, other owners and the hype around the brand.
I'm loving the GR Yaris forum already, some great people and great ideas on there, think there'll be some really good meets.
This goes some way to explaining why owners are getting ‘713 hard acceleration’ stats on the MyT app before they’ve even taken delivery. ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)
Scarlet Flare is undisputedly the fastest colour. But it’s also the colour you’ll see a lot of if you develop colon cancer.
Black looks lovely, but you’ll look like a fledgling drug dealer.
Flat white will look like you cheaped out on the metallic paint.
Platinum White Pearl is therefore the correct choice. Because rally car.

I am sorry but apart from Flat White, which definitely makes you look like a cheap skate! I cannot follow your logic...![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

Red is and always has been the colour of fire which inherently is hot and therefore by being hot will burn your pants so has to be fastest!
Black and white by definition are not even colours...
I think i need to get out more! Will someone please open the pubs!!
If the GR can do an 8m lap of the Nurburgring, it will be as fast as the 996GT3 Mk1 ... with 360bhp.
Of course there are tyre differences ... but a lot has been done since that first GT3 was timed to improve the surface and improve tyres.
In terms of comparisons in the corners with current machinery such as a GT4 on Cup2's ... it will need to pull a consistent 1.5g ... which it might do if it hits a kerb but probably not otherwise.
Either way, it is a class act and I will be very happy with a consistent 1.2g ... 1.0g on the road is a lot IMHO.

Red examples may be as fast as a dancing flame across the Aussie Outback, but it’s certainly reflected in their price! Red is and always has been the colour of fire which inherently is hot and therefore by being hot will burn your pants so has to be fastest!

8 minutes is implausible to me - that's faster than a 981 Cayman S. 8.15, as has been suggested is much more likely. But does it matter? It's not what the car is about.Of course there are tyre differences ... but a lot has been done since that first GT3 was timed to improve the surface and improve tyres.

When you consider these times:
Fastest hot hatches top 10 recap
1. Renault Megane RS Trophy-R - 7:40.1
2. Honda Civic Type R - 7:43.8
3. Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S - 7:47.2
4. Honda Civic Type R - 7:50.6
5. Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R - 7:54.4
6. SEAT Leon Cupra - 7:58.4
7. Ford Focus RS - 8:06.3
8. Renault Megane RS Trophy - 8:08
9. Renault Megane RS R26.R - 8:16.9
10. Ford Focus RS - 8:26
The quickest I’ve seen was a sub 8 BTG with an experienced driver but not a professional driver. The car was also running nangkang semi slicks so not in a spec that will likely be tested once the circuit opens up for timing however that’s probably the difference between experienced driver and professional. I suspect in its circuit pack spec with professional driver a time of 7:45-8:00 is achievable although some long fast sections where it will lose out.
