Tesla model 3 speed limiter setting

Hello all.

considering a model 3, a 2022/2023 model year.

On my recent cars I set the manual speed limiter to +3 above in areas I know are popular for speed cameras and +5 rest of the time.

And I adjust based of the road signs and waze when I've missed a limit change.


Looking at the Tesla as know they are not button fest.

How do you adjust the speed limit on the go?

On mine, same year, I use the right steering wheel scroll button to change the set speed up and down.

The speedometer on mine is almost exactly correct at only 0.5-1mph over the actual speed so I have mine set to come up with the actual limit - then just adjust it manually using the right scroll button.

Sounds good you can do it manually.

I've driven cars that have the auto adjusting speed limiters, they are are best super unreliable, at worse very dangerous.

On the accuracy sounds like +0 for speed trap hot spots and +3 for everywhere else.

Tesla don t have a true limiter like some cars, they have active cruise, so the car will always try to drive at the set speed unless something in front stops it rather than let you drive at whatever speed you want up to the set limit.

You can set the cruise manually although it will also auto change to lower speed limits at any change to the speed limit, but not higher than the speed when it was first activated, ie it will do 60-50-60 but not 50-60

There's a quick way to get it to do the new speed limit after it goes up, just tap the speed limit sign and it resets the set speed to the new limit.

It saves having to spin the right wheel to manually change the limit for big speed limit increases.

I didnt know that. Thats clever, much quicker than using the right dial on the wheel.

Holding the drive selector down does the same thing. Obviously doesn’t work on later cars because they don’t have one.
