I’ve got a 2022 M3 Performance with 40k miles. It’s a great car, no issues. The 0% finance offer is tempting me though..

I’m not sure how the missus will like the indicators or the selector. Also, we’re not too keen on losing the USS.

Anyone upgraded and regret it?

Similar situation here, been on two different test drives now to try and convince myself that I could get used to the indicators, I’m pretty confident I can’t now. Also, “vision” parking system is terrible compared to proper ultrasonic sensors.

Tested one a couple of weeks back. I’d say the acceleration is more aggressive but I absolutely hated the indicators. I’ve read you can buy a 3rd party stalk.

Interior is a nice place.

I just picked up a 2019 m3p last week yhough so my judgement may be clouded. Would be happy with either.

Its stupid - existing customers wavering because of a decision that the company made around stalks.

The new Model 3 is better in a number of ways - interior quality, noise intrusion, performance, ride etc. Its a pretty significant upgrade (though way too late in the product lifecycle for my liking) and all of the reviews state that the Model 3 was good, but now its better....

Except a couple of things - like the stalks. I am aware that its probably easy to get used to them, but why? Why do this? All they needed to do was to stick to the formula. Improve the car and customers will keep buying them. Tesla are now providing reasons to not do that.

Companies make bad decisions all of the time, but this one still has me scratching my head - some people will just go ahead and buy a Tesla, thats OK. But why do this and cause customers to waver on their decision? Odd and stupid. Imagine if they just stuck with the stalks? Oh well, not my business.

Have had my s plaid for almost a year now with the yoke and love it. It took some getting use to at first but now that it comes naturally it just seems more efficient to click the indicators and flash the headlights with just your thumb.
The gear selector i really like, the beta version of auto select works well and makes 3 point turns very easy (just turning the wheel and tapping brake to go between reverse and forward)
Lack of USS isn’t great as I find it reacts late on auto pilot and hits the brakes too hard.

I'm in the process, scheduled to take delivery next tuesday.

Not just 0% but currently there's an free FSD transfer also.
Beware trade in, mine dropped £5k between "estimate" (pre order) and guaranteed offer (post order, deposit paid).

I've test driven both the new RWD on release and the Performance when they first arrived in the UK, I still don't like the indicators. Everybody tells me they're easy to get used to.

Thanks all very helpful.

As we can switch between USS and Tesla vision we decided to test it out, but TV doesn’t work with our drive and thinks the drive way is an object. Whereas the USS works fine. Not great when it’s a tight spot anyway.

Also when parking it said we had enough room, it looked tight so I got out to check only to see it would have hit the other car.

So yeah I don’t really have confidence it in, and I’d be worried the missus would rely on it and it’ll end badly.

How good is the auto selector? It seems a faff to select forward or reverse on the screen. I’m also a little worried she will back it into my other car. That will be a fun conversation with the insurance company.

I agree the new version has some decent improvements and it should be a “no brainer” but they are making it difficult. The better acceleration, nicer interior, improved efficiency, more sophisticated suspension all good improvements but still it’s not an easy decision.

Argh.

I think all key areas are improved, by a useful amount. The adaptive suspension on the Performance is particularly impressive.

The gear select is a bit of a faff. I selected auto detect on the dest drive, and it simply didn't bother, I'm sure it will get better with time. How many times do we shift gears other that at the terminal ends of a journey. I'm not overly concerned about this. I also have qualms about losing USS as (for me) they work particularly well.

I've just moved from a 2020 M3P to a new Highland one.

It's so much better in a numbers of ways. The easy bits to list are the seats, the acceleration (it's more fierce from a standstill) and the looks.

There's also the bits that tesla list.

When it comes to ride, it's very different, the new suspension and chassis makes it feel a lot better. My missus likened it from going from a Dacia to a Merc. She also said she'd have ordered one the same day if she wasn't tied up leasing her current car.

The indicators do take adjustment, but that's about the only thing. Everything else is better or the same as before. The "Tesla vision" I ignore, and just use mirrors/camera. Gear selector is done twice per journey at most, and easy enough.

Also, depending how you buy it, you might be able to save a load by PCP'ing with CA Automotive instead of Blackhorse. When I bought a few weeks back, Tesla would send you to Black Horse by default, they had a final balloon of 17K, whereas CA had it at 25K. Depending on whether you prefer cheap monthlies (use CA and save ~£100 per month) or cheaper/easier to shift at the end (use Blackhorse), you may want to change. For me it's saved ~£150 per month on the old 2020 car.

I have a 2021 LR and was considering the Highland. But the cost to upgrade combined with the fact it's a very similar car, put me off.

Mine was a cash purchase, leasers might have different options.

I have a 2022 M3 Performance and I am not going to upgrade, I previously upgraded from a 2019 M3 Performance when the trade ins were very high but I think the depreciation is too high to justify for the marginal benefits.

The option to buy does seem very low after 3 years, making the 0% pcp expensive.
Are they really worth so little @ 3 years, or inflated rrp?

I was vagely interested in “upgrading” my 2021 SR+ to the new RWD but I’m not keen on the performance reduction. I’m not interested in the LR as I prefer how the RWD drives, like the LFP battery tech and obviously being quite a bit less is a bonus too.

I’m please to hear the ride has improved, it’s probably the biggest niggle I have.

Is the auto gear selection good with city driving? There’s a fair about of reversing down roads, 3 point turns, parallel parking etc.

That ENY1 deal is very good. Don’t really need an additional car but I’ll consider it.

I thought they started selling the LR RWD again but maybe not.

I have just bought a used 2021 M3 LR in red on 18's for £21,500 and 42,000 miles.

I think this is good value because:


£50k new but one owner 14,000 miles a year on a lease means very likely home charging not supercharging.

Still got warranty on the big bits.

Prices have stabilised int he used market with many similar cars actually adding a few hundred pounds to asking prices on AT when you view the price tracking plugin.



I could have leased a new one via a company scheme dodging 40% income tax but that would have still been £8000 a year going out and I'd have to give it back after three years. After 45,000 additional miles I think my 3LR will still be worth more than zero.
