We have model Y and the last 8k miles has been a revelation. We charge at home and the charging network here in the US works well. I'm probably preaching to the converted on this subforum, it's quiet, rapid and cost peanuts to run.
For road trips and days out I have a 996 cab, but I don't drive it like a sports car and an F-type, XKR convertible, SL or similar would also work. As we come towards the end of ICE cars, I am waiting for a ~50k EV roadster (not the Tesla hypercar silly expensive thing). MG is not sold here AFAIK, but that is close to my ideal though not optimal.

Do I buy an F type V8 and enjoy the swan song or wait and hope that Tesla builds a convertible Model S or similar?

Is there even enough market demand for Tesla or similar to roll out a chopped Model 3?

Your post is probably best under a different sub forum as it’s not Tesla specific.

But to answer your question, there are a few not far away from being delivered, I believe Porsche are working on an electric boxster as an example.

Road tripping really requires a reliable charging network and a decent range.. hence Tesla. A Model S convertible would be good.

Can you get the original Tesla Roadster?

That is starting to get classic status, will hold its value really well.

They are few and far between and not inexpensive and have already achieved collector status. Also range is low.

It'll be a good few years before there's a decent $50k roadster in the US. You'll miss out on all the Chinese stuff so there's really only Tesla and Porsche.

Might I as well get yourself something else in the meantime.

And if by Roadster we mean a roof-less / convertible car which is the traditional definition, then not even Tesla.

I can see BMW making an i4 convertible at some point

I am inclined to agree - so an F-type as an interim seems like a good idea
