Tesla's Mobile Technician (I'm not in the UK) came to my house today to fix a couple of very minor issues (under warranty) which I noticed after collecting the car 3 weeks ago. There was a trim clip missing and the rear bumper wasn't sitting exactly flush to the bodywork (1mm or 2mm out). I have to say I was really impressed with the booking process via the App and the quick and efficient fix from the Technician. Ok, I know both jobs weren't exactly complicated but still, I thought he was very professional in the way he did the work. He knew exactly how to fix the bumper (I guess it might be a common problem).

I was also intrigued to see him arrive in a Model X which had been converted into a van. The back seats were removed and a bulkhead screen was installed to separate the front seats from the rear load area. Are these Tesla 'vans' something you can buy from Tesla or do they just convert them for their own Technicians? If they're not offering them for sale to the public, perhaps they should? If I was a van driver, I'd be very happy to drive around and make my deliveries in a Model X biggrin

If Tesla doesn't offer the X as a van, maybe there's an opportunity for a company to offer these conversions and sell them? Or would a Model X be too expensive for commercial use?

They’re all custom. The couple of techs I’ve had out have had Model S with custom racking and tool drawers built into the boot. It’s a very slick setup.

It really is. The Model X looked very impressive inside, mainly because of the space; there was no racking or tool drawers though. It also looked 'van like' which made me wonder why Tesla don't produce a van.

I would imagine the Techs will be extremely happy to drive around in a Model S. The guy that came out to me was very happy with his 'X' cool
