I very rarely see a Tesla over 2- 3years old.
Where do they go? Are they bought back by Tesla and sold abroad or dismantled/scrapped?

A look at 'howmanyleft' suggests a few old ones have disappeared, but the big picture is they used to sell dozens now they sell thousands.

I see loads of older Teslas. I'm based in London. Bloke down the road just got a 5 year old Model X, and round the corner, someone just got a 9 year old Model S.

There's just so many new ones that it dwarfs the few old ones that are about. Even feels a rarity to see an OG 2019 / 2020 Model 3 with the chrome trim nowadays.

S/X are mainly aluminum. I washed* mine recently for the first time in 5 months. 4.5 years old, just about to tick over 50K miles, people use to measure panel gaps and paint thickness for YouTube views, all I would say is our X is aging OK, though at 4.5 years old its hardly 'old'. I have just replaced the 12V battery for the first time though.

  • Washed = Using a garden hose, one sponge, one bucket, and had help from a 5 year oldsmile).

Many owners have de-chromed their 2019/20 models. Some don’t like chrome, some want to make their cars look like a current model.
I quite like the chrome - think back to the 70s and 80s, it was a quick way to identify the Fords with the high spec Ghia models!

Couldn't resist parking to an identical 75D X whilst touring around France....Europe is clearly the place to find older Teslas, especially during half term smile.

I quite liked the chrome too. Bit of an American vibe that sat well with the car I think. My 2019 Model 3 had it and I never felt any desire to dechrome.

Had a drive in my mates 21. Compared to my 19 everything just seems quieter. Door slams. Handles. Road noise.

Other than that not much to tell apart.

I prefer the chrome.
