Model 3 Delivery Times 2022

Hi all,
I ordered my company car last week, a new model 3 standard range.Actually very excited to get into an EV, especially from a commuting point of view. However, my excitement has quickly vanished when I remembered the website showed a November 2022 delivery time!
crystal ball time and all that, but has anyone ordered a model 3 recently and if so what are the timescales you've been told? I've had an automated text showing an official order has been placed but no delivery time has been given as of yet. I guess im asking how accurate Tesla's November claim is - to be that far away im assuming there are some serious supply issues (all of a sudden, I've watched these boards for a while and I haven't massive delays with people ordering to delivery other than a couple of months at most which would be normal?)

Demand for cars and particularly EVs has gone through the roof since Feb. Back around the end of Jan you could order and get it by end of March. Mid Feb when I ordered mine it was May. Then I’m now seeing Nov and some configurations are Feb 23 now. Tesla has great capacity to get through their order book but others like VW, BMW etc. have no capacity for new orders this year. They even started cancelling orders as they can’t keep up with demand.
Tesla seem to have reduced M3 volume heading to the uk in favour of MY, and you can order a MY and get it in 2 months hence the disparity of dates. The MY is new to the uk but availability is high.
The M3 is also sensitive to wheel and colour, non white on.19” wheels are 6 months sooner than white on 18”. = dates are as early as August. Tesla don’t build to order, they determine a mix of cars and then each batch effectively gets drawn down against so a run on one spec pushes the date out while a different spec can be available next day.
There have also been plenty of stories of people with 6 month lead times getting the call a week later offering them a car, of course tesla shift a lot of cars so it’s unlikely that’s happening to everyone. On the tesla motor club forum the general talk suggests the date you’re quoted initially is the longest date to expect and you may get a lot of movement forwards and backwards but rarely later than the original.
If you’re desperate then sign up fo one of the inventory notification sites and if you spot an inventory car (they come up when orders get cancelled or changed) you can try and get that car allocated to you.

Tesla send out lots of updates, I recall there are no base spec SR’s or LR in white for matching until later in the year. Cars ordered last month are getting April-May delivery dates and I think there will be inventory cars in the next few weeks. Overall demand will be high as there are £1k (SR) and £2k (LR) price increases any day now.

Agree with the above- it’s the base spec white cars which are longer lead times.
End of Jan I test drove an M3 performance and was astounded at the thing. Dealer sounded pushy at calls of ‘quick out down a deposit as I can get it sorted for march, otherwise will be much later’….but it seems he was right 😂 by mid feb I decided I preferred it as an all rounder to the C63 and similar ilk and ordered, delivery for May which isn’t bad.
I’d definitely wait though as the used market is so bullish right now. Only issue I’m having is deciding which bloody charger as they cost a fortune 😂

I ordered a basic M3 LR in blue, appx 3 weeks ago. The portal initially showed August/September, which quickly changed to June/July delivery.
Hopeful of a random call to say that its ready for collection!

May/June seems to be the realistic time for LR with metallic paint. Hopeful of a random call to say that its ready for collection!

Bet you are glad you ordered when you do, 2 price increases in less than 2 weeks means £5k more lost price!
Had a client wanting to cancel 6 today that are due for hand over this week, was not slightly bothered as we now have 6 stock cars with £5k discount!
Lots have been popping up in inventory too (plus a lot of demo which is another matter). However, those who ordered before the price rise aren't being allowed to match themselves against inventory stock at the moment, I guess Tesla are hoping to sell an already produced car for more money to someone this quarter and take the lower priced delivery for a car not yet built next quarter. Seems odd but thats the current position.

In these uncertain times it makes sense for the business.Material costs have increased significantly, prioritise those paying more with the material costs high and delay those paying less, to when (they hope), material costs may be lower. Also with demand being high, they could be trading a low value sale for a high value one, should they choose to cancel.
It's a roll of the dice. but helps short term profitability, ruthless yes, but that's business.

That said, I read earlier today they've just started doing the matching to existing orders so maybe its got more to do with quarter end than anything.
Wife ordered her M3, RWD, White, option alloy wheels, white interior, 29th June.
First said delivery Jan 23 to Mar 23
Then her decided to cut the option alloy wheels, (for £1500 one can buy a nice spare set of alloys and tyres for summer)
The delivery now is planned 29 Nov '22 to 13 Jan'23

Ordered a white, black interior RWD with 19" sport wheels and 18" winter wheels/tyres mid March 2022. Matched to a car within 10 days but had to reject that because I hadn't decided on the final spec.
Matched again in June and took delivery at the end of June.
My advice is choose your spec wisely. Tesla don't offer many options but an 'optioned' is more likely to arrive sooner. Ignore the quoted delivery dates on the website, they're an estimated date but I think you're more likely to be matched sooner.

Just thought i'd update this.
Ordered car March 3rd, my company car portal through my employer has showed November delivery.
thought id give Tesla a call this evening seen as a lot of people on the Tesla forums are getting various delivery date changes on their Tesla portal.
I was told on the phone its now been moved to December. March order to December delivery - thats the longest wait that i know of from all the Tesla forums and posts i've seen so far! 9-10months.. Bit much.
Fingers crossed it comes sooner. Using a new passat courtesy of Eurocar at the moment, and while its excellent on diseasal and actually a very nice car to use and be in, the BIK deductions are some what ugly!
