Has anyone with this car done any motorway drives and could report on the range possible? I know this data is very murky and dependent on a lot of criteria but let’s assume it’s a summers day.

Try ABRP (A Better Route Planner), you can plot routes at different speeds, different temperatures, different loads etc and in my experience it's very accurate.

Real world is great but ABRP is also good too to be able to plot range at higher speeds.

How fast do you drive on motorways? This is PH and not the police... but lets say you were driving on an autobahn not to inriminate yourself. Range at 80mph will be noticeably less than at 70mph (I haven't got a M3P but I'd be at no more than about 200 and 220 in my 2020 LR) and if you enjoyed a spirited autobahn drive at 90 or above I doubt you'd ever get over 200 miles..

Depending on why you're asking. remember that 100% to 0% isn't practical. Charging to 100% takes ages and if you wanted to fill up while on your journey you'd probably find charging to 90% was as long as you'd want to wait, even on a supercharger, and then it's a lottery going down to 0%. The ability to recharge also rarely fall conveniently so you'd probably go no lower than 10%. The current 340 WLTP is therefore already down to about 270 working maximum, and at speed will take you significantly lower still as a useable range. Some will quote they've done further but you need to understand how far they pushed the top and bottom 10% buffers and whether you'd be prepared to chance it regularily.

Perhaps unlike many on PH I’m not one for speeding so 70mph in the UK and 80mph when I’m in France. This is great info. I have a few long journeys every year such as driving to Le Mans or over to Wales/Devon/Cornwall/Yorkshire (travelling from London). A quick look it seems I need to do 1 more stop to charge up on my trip to Le Mans which doesn’t add much to the journey time.

Thats fine - I've just seen a few new owners on the owners group be disappointed that their 85mph motorway trip didn't give them a 340 mile range. Electric is just a lot more sensitive to speed (because the efficiency is so high the increase in drag isn't hidden). Trips to france are a doddle using the tunnel, at least it was pre covid and presumably still is. You can fill up while waiting to get on the train.

I drove my Model S P90DL to Le Mans last year. Did Friday night to Sunday night. It was a bit of a hassle but it was really easy and worked really well. The biggest pain was having to charge when we got to LM at midnight so we had the charge to get to Rouen on Sunday night. Had it in autopilot on the Autoroutes at 135kph and that was great, made the journey fly by.

Harry Metcalfe had a Model 3 on test and took it on a longish motorway journey. I seem to remember it was a round trip of 300+ miles with 1 'top up' charge at a Tesla Supercharger point. You'll find his video of course if you want to see how he got on.

I’m planning to charge at Rouen and then again at St Saturnin. That will give me enough to go to Rouen on the way back to charge.

I’ll check that out!
